NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 11/12/24

I somehow squeaked out a slight win on the NHL last night, going 2-3 to win 0.15 units with my big plays cashing. Tonight we have a decent seven game slate. Let’s win!

Maple Leafs vs. Senators (7:00)

The Battle of Ontario’s always fun. The Leafs are playing good hockey right now, on a three game win streak and four game point streak, coming off a 4-1 win against Montreal on Saturday night, even without Auston Matthews in the lineup, who’s still dealing with an upper body injury. The Senators are struggling a bit recently after their decent start to the season but come into tonight off a 3-2 overtime win in Boston on Saturday. I’d lean the Leafs win this one at home but there’s a ton of variability when these teams play to make it not worth betting in my opinion. I’d lean the under as well, but don’t like it enough to bet on. I’ll lay off this game entirely.

Rangers vs. Jets (7:00)

Great cross conference matchup here between two of the top teams in the league. The Rangers are coming off a 4-0 win in Detroit on Saturday and have three wins in their last four games. The Jets are the best team in the league to start the season with a 14-1 record, on a six game win streak, coming off a 4-1 win against the Stars at home on Saturday. I’d lean the Jets win here on the road in a great game, and I’d lean the under with how spectacular the defense has been for both of these teams with the two best goalies in the league in goal, but not enough to bet it with how potent both of these offenses have been. The best play on this matchup is no play at all. I’ll lay off, can’t wait to watch it though.

Panthers vs. Devils (7:30)

This Eastern Conference matchup should be a lot of fun tonight. I think Florida’s the best team in the East and they’re my pick to make their third straight trip to the Cup Finals. Coming off a 4-3 shootout win against the Flyers on Saturday (loss for me since I had them in regulation), they’re on a seven game win streak. The Devils shocked me on Sunday with a 1-0 shutout loss at home to the Sharks in a game that they outshot SJ 44-27. That loss ended their three game win streak. The Panthers are the better team here and I like them to win it at home, which I’ll take for half a unit. I love the over though, expecting both teams to score, which I’ll take at 6 for a unit.

Blues vs. Bruins (8:00)

This matchup isn’t great as both of these teams have been underperforming. The Blues just got completely blown out 8-1 against the Caps on Saturday (easy win for me) for their second loss in a row and after their decent start to the year they have just two wins in their last seven games. The Bruins after their slow start have gotten better as of late, with a 3-1-1 record in their last five games, coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at home against the Sens on Saturday. I’d lean Boston wins this one on the road, but it’s tough to trust them at -170. I’ll stay off this game.

Oilers vs. Islanders (9:00)

This is a pretty boring matchup to me. The Oilers are coming off a big 7-3 win in Vancouver on Saturday night to bounce back from two losses in a row, but they’ve been quite inconsistent this season and pretty disappointing. The Islanders started the season looking awful but have since picked up points in four of their last five games, coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Devils on Saturday. Edmonton should win this game at home and they’re absolutely the better team here, but in no way should they be -210. Way too much. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit.

Canucks vs. Flames (10:00)

I don’t love this matchup but I think this has the potential to be a fun game between these two Western Canadian teams. These teams played once already this season with a highly entertaining game, with the Flames winning 6-5 in overtime on the road back on October 9th. The Canucks had a three game winning streak streak come to an end on Saturday as they got blown out 7-3 by the Oilers at home. They’ve been pretty solid. The Flames have been all over the place this year. They started off their season hot, then cooled off big time. They’ve since picked up points in their last four games although they have just three wins in their last ten games, coming off a 3-1 win against the Kings last night. Especially with Calgary in the second half of a back to back here, I like Vancouver to win this one at home and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit.

Kraken vs. Blue Jackets (10:00)

Lousy cross conference matchup here between two teams playing terrible hockey as of late. The Kraken are coming off a pretty surprising 4-3 overtime win at home against the Golden Knights on Friday night, ending a four game losing streak with just their second win in their last nine games. The Blue Jackets started their season hot, way over exceeding expectations as they were a pain in the ass for good teams to play against. They’ve since sucked though, on a five game losing streak as they come off a 4-2 loss in Anaheim on Sunday night. I’d lean the Kraken and the over here, but there’s no money to be made on this lousy matchup.
