We’ve arrived to the finale of Joan’s inaugural season of the Golden Bachelorette. I’ve really enjoyed watching this entire season. I liked the Golden Bachelor a lot and the Golden Bachelorette has even exceeded that. Joan has been such an incredible lead and there wasn’t any drama at all the entire season, something that I’ve never seen from any show I’ve ever watched from Bachelor Nation. All of the guys became friends, were respectful, and I thought every guy was there for the right reasons. I was great. Joan is down to her two final guys, Chock and Guy. Will she find her happy ending, and if so, which one of them will she choose…and choose her…let’s find out!
Joan’s still struggling where we left off two weeks ago with Pascal leaving during fantasy suites week because he wasn’t in love with her, giving her doubts, especially about being vulnerable and giving her worries. Nancy goes to see Joan and talks it through with her, giving her advice on that she’s still lovable. She points out that Chock coming back after his mother died and that Guy checks all the boxes should help Joan, helping calm her nerves, telling Joan that she deserves love and she has to let it happen.
The journey will conclude in Bora Bora for Joan with either Chock or Guy. Joan starts the week seeing her kids and talking to them about her journey before they meet both guys. She gets emotional about how much she’s thought about her late husband and opening up to love again.
Chock’s the first of the two final guys to meet Joan’s family. He tells Joan’s kids that his daughter was the one that filled out the application. Joan’s kids really like Chock and more importantly for her, they give her their blessing to move forward and find love.
After meeting her family, Joan and Chock have their final date. Chock gives Joan a note and a symbolic key of them finding a place together to live in NYC after this journey ends, and he tells her that he loves her and wants to marry her, which Joan’s thrilled about. He put it all out there, really gotta respect that. She doesn’t say she loves him back, but you could tell she’s just hesitant with them not at the end yet.
Prior to Guy’s turn to meet Joan’s family, she wakes up that morning after her date with Chock, thinking about how she found love and already made up her mind. Joan goes to talk to Guy. She tells him about when it started to feel real at hometowns, then breaks the news to him. Joan tells him that her heart belongs to someone else, which really heartbreakingly crushes Guy. But she absolutely did the right thing in not having him go through meeting her family and waiting till the last day. Guy tells Joan that he had fallen in love with her, he thought it was going to happen and obviously is devastated. Gotta feel for him.
Back to the Bachelor Nation studio live in LA with Guy on the hot seat with Jesse to talk about his journey. He says that he didn’t think going into this that he could find love at his age, but did, which gives him hopes. He’s in pretty good spirits, excited to see Joan for the first time since that day in Bora Bora. He tells Joan how everything he said was from the heart, how he was guarded and it was a slow burn for him. He asks Joan if there was something missing, and she tells him that no, it was that she had feelings for both of them, but that it just came down to thet she had stronger feelings for Chock and that her and Guy just ran out of time. I think Guy would be a good candidate to be the next Golden Bachelor for sure.
We’re back to Bora Bora for the Final Rose. Chock has a beautiful proposal to Joan, she tells him that when he left for his mother’s funeral, that’s when she realized what strong feelings she had for him, and she tells him that she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Joan accepts Chock’s proposal and gives Chock the final golden rose. How beautiful!
The golden couple join Jesse on the hot seat in studio. They both look extremely happy together, talking about their few secret meetups since filming. After a quick reel of all the times that Chock says “I’m crazy about her”, Jesse transitions that into a fun add for the “most dramatic” College Football Playoff, a little crossover into his other world (the amount I heard Jesse Palmer every week between these shows, watching college football and hearing him announce every game I play in College Football 25 is honestly insane). ABC gifts Joan, Chock and both of their families with a trip to Disney.
We get a preview of the Grant’s upcoming season of the Bachelor, which I’m sure will bring all the drama. We’ll be back in January as Grant’s journey begins!
