Solid bounce back night for me on the NHL yesterday, going 3-1 to win 1.22 units. Another big Saturday slate today with 12 games, let’s keep on winning!
I’m keeping the writeup short today.
Bruins vs. Blues (1:00)
This matchup isn’t great to start off the slate as both of these teams have been struggling. These teams just played in St. Louis on Tuesday with the Bruins winning 3-2 on the road. They should win again here at home, but I don’t think they’re worth betting on at -210. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it. I’ll lay off this game completely.
Kraken vs. Islanders (4:00)
Very interesting game here although I don’t think either of these teams are great. They’re on solid runs right now now though. This side is a complete toss up to me, but I like the over in this one, especially at 5.5, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Maple Leafs vs. Oilers (7:00)
Fantastic cross conference matchup to start off the evening games. Both of these teams are playing well right now after slow and inconsistent starts to their seasons. I’d lean the Oilers win this one on the road and the under, but not enough to bet this game. Neither of these teams have been trustworthy this year and I’m not touching it.
Flyers vs. Sabres (7:00)
Fun matchup between two very sub par teams, both winning some games lately. I like my Sabres to get a win here on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I also like the over, which I’ll take for half a unit as well.
Canadiens vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)
Awful game here. Both of these teams blow, especially defensively. I do think the Blue Jackets are the better team here, but with them on the second half of a back to back after last night’s 6-2 win against the Pens, I’d slightly lean Montreal wins at home. I’m not touching the side here, but I like the over, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Devils vs. Lightning (7:00)
Pretty interesting matchup here between two really solid teams. These teams put on a show the first time they played this season about a month ago with the Lightning winning 8-5 on the road. Tampa was on a lousy run but ended their four game losing streak on Thursday with a huge 4-1 win against the Jets. The Devils meanwhile are rolling with seven wins in their last nine games. I think the side is a complete toss up here but I love the over, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Panthers vs. Jets (7:00)
Spectacular game here between two of the best teams in the NHL. The Panthers are coming off two losses in a row to the Devils, but I think they’re the best team in the East. The Jets are coming off just their second loss of the losing 4-1 in Tampa on Thursday. They’ve been the best team in the NHL this season with a very impressive 15-2 record. I’d slightly lean Florida at home and the under, but I’m not touching this game.
Penguins vs. Sharks (7:00)
This cross conference matchup blows. Both of these teams have been horrible. The Sharks are one of the worst teams in the NHL and Pittsburgh should win this one at home, but there is no game where the Pens should be -215 favorites. I’m not touching this game. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Hurricanes vs. Senators (7:00)
I feel like this is a pretty big mismatch, with the Hurricanes, coming off a 4-1 loss in Utah on Wednesday being the far better team here. I don’t think Ottawa’s bad, but this should be an easy bounce back win for the Canes. I’ll take Carolina for a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
Wild vs. Stars (8:00)
Fantastic Central Division matchup here between the second and third place teams in the Division. Both have played really well this year on both ends of the ice. I feel like the Stars are the slightly better team here and would lea they win on the road, but not enough to bet it. I’d also slightly lean the over, but with how good both defenses have been, I don’t think its worth taking a stab at.
Kings vs. Red Wings (8:00)
Lousy cross conference matchup here although both of these teams have just one win in their last four games. The Kings are the much better team here on both ends of the ice, but have been quite inconsistent. The Red Wings though are struggling this season, coming into tonight in the second half of a back to back after giving me my only loss last night as they lost 6-4 in Anaheim. LA should win this game and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but I’m not touching that.
Canucks vs. Blackhawks (10:00)
Big mismatch for the only late game on tonight’s slate. The Canucks have been a pretty solid team all season, but come into tonight off a 5-2 loss to the Islanders on Thursday. The Blackhawks on the other hand have been terrible. This should be an easy win for Vancouver at home and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
