I went a perfect 2-0 to win a unit on yesterday’s lousy NHL slate to start December. Tonight we have just three games before a big slate tomorrow. Let’s win again!
Rangers vs. Devils (7:00)
This nearby rivalry in the Metro Division always produces pretty fun games. The Rangers finally ended a five game losing streak with a 4-3 win against the Habs on Saturday afternoon as Kaapo Kakko came up huge with a power play goal with 24 seconds left to cash my regulation bet on them after they had blown a 3-1 lead going into the third period. The Devils have been very good, with eleven wins in their last 16 games, coming off a 6-5 win against the Capitals on Saturday. I like Jersey to bounce back here on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I also like the over here, which I’ll take at the alternate line of 6 for half a unit as well.
Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks (7:30)
Huge cross conference mismatch here and the price sure does show it with the Leafs at an astounding -425 on the moneyline. Toronto’s playing great hockey lately with eight wins in their last ten games, coming off a big 5-3 win in Tampa on Saturday. They’ve been really solid on both ends of the ice. The Blackhawks on the other hand are one of the worst teams in the NHL. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight coming off a 6-3 loss at home to the Blue Jackets and have just two wins in their last eight games. I’m expecting an easy win for the Leafs at home tonight and I’ll take their -1.5 puck line for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under since I don’t really expect Chicago to score, but not enough to bet it.
Utah HC vs. Stars (9:00)
I don’t think this Central Division matchup is all that great, but I like the value we’re getting here on the Stars. Utah hasn’t been all that good this season, but they’re coming off a huge shocker, shutting out the Golden Knights in a 6-0 win on the road in Vegas. After a lousy stretch with just three wins in the span of 13 games, they’ve since gone 3-1-1 in their last five. The Stars are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a huge 3-1 win at home against the Jets last night. Dallas has been very good this year on both ends of the ice, and even in the second half of a back to back on the road, I like them to win here. I’ll take the Stars for half a unit at a nice price of -135. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
