Eight losses in a row now for the Sabres as tonight we lost a 3-2 game to the Rangers at home, with an inflated score for a game that saw four of those goals scored in the last six minutes.
Pathetic start as expected for the Sabres tonight as it took them 6:40 to even get their first shot on goal. The Rangers scored the first of the game 7:01 into the first period and just eight seconds in a power play opportunity as Mika Zibanejad ripped it off a beautiful pass from Panarin after some nice puck movement for New York. Pretty abysmal period for Buffalo on both ends of the ice.
The scoreless second period was definitely better for the Sabres, but still ain’t great. UPL was the only real reason that this isn’t like a 4-0 game.
The Rangers made it 2-0 with 6:31 left in the game, Reilly Smith got a bouncing puck and put it in the empty net with UPL on the ice. With 4:51 left in regulation, the Sabres finally broke the shutout, with a rip of a shot from the slot by Owen Power to make it a 2-1 game. With 2:02 left in the game, Adam Fox ripped a shot the entire length of the ice into the back of the net to cap off the game. Tage Thompson gave the Sabres a chance to 37.7 seconds left in the game, beating Shesterkin to make it a 3-2 game, but after an icing call to close the game that was it.
Final: Sabres 2, Rangers 3
Eight straight losses. What a pathetic team. What a pathetic franchise. What a joke. UPL played well tonight but that was pretty much the only positive.
Taxes and palm trees.
