As if the embarrassment for this franchise couldn’t get worse, the Sabres put up yet another completely pathetic performance, getting blown out 6-1 in Montreal by the other worst team in the Atlantic. Horrendous game.
It only took 19 seconds into the game for the Habs to score the first goal of the game with the Sabres defense not jumping on an unfortunate bounce and Joel Armia, former Sabres draft pick, got it in front and made it 1-0 Montreal on a quick shot. The Canadiens had a few other good chances right after that with the Buffalo defense looking like dogshit early. Patrik Laine made it 2-0, 5:09 into the game on a rebound after a breakaway, off the pipe and in from a low angle shot. After review it turned out the puck didn’t cross the goal line and we’re back to 1-0 in this pathetic game. Getting outshot 8-0 at this point that the stoppage to quickly review it was probably a good thing. With Benson in the box for interference on a questionable call, Laine got right on the board a minute and a half after his last goal got taken off the board, on a perfectly placed one timer on the power play with a ton of time unguarded 6:26 into the game. What a pathetic defensive effort for the Sabres, with all four guys on the right side of the ice, leaving Laine completely alone on the left side. This team’s a fucking joke. Took ten minutes to even get a shot on goal. Such a bad first period and Buffalo was lucky that this game isn’t already 4-0 or 5-0. Brutal. Shouldn’t be dominated by the worst team in the East.
I still can’t believe Terry Pegula told this team this week that he trusts Kevyn and Lindy (who for the record I don’t think is the problem) and this garbage team. How can you watch these games and think that “the solution is in this room”? Sell the fucking team Terry.
Buffalo got on the board 3:43 into the second period on a beautiful rocket of a shot with a quick release by Dylan Cozens in transition to make it a one goal game at 2-1 and get us back into it. The Habs answered right back though 5:54 into the second to take the two goal lead back. Luukkonen made the save on Cole Caufield right in front, but Slafkovsky got the rebound from behind the net and banked it in off the back of UPL. Pathetic. Montreal made it 4-1 with 10:15 left in the second period on Laine’s second of the game, also on the power play, in the same way on a one timer that beat UPL short side. Just 1:10 later he completed the hat trick, the exact same power play rip to go up 5-1, on yet another 5 on 3. At least my over is at least a push at this point. I’m sure that’ll end up hitting. The over cashed with 44 seconds left in the second period on a Josh Anderson tip in right in front on the open net on a play that made Owen Power look so fucking lazy and bad. What a horrendous period for Buffalo. Maybe stay out of the fucking box rather than giving up multiple five on three opportunities in a row. It’s unbelievable how fucking bad this team is. We’re the new Arizona Coyotes.
Montreal clearly took their foot off the gas up 6-1 in the third, but they still held the Sabres off the board in the final 20 minutes.
FINAL: Sabres 1, Canadiens 6
When the fuck is the embarrassment going to stop for this franchise. SELL THE FUCKING TEAM TERRY!
The Leafs come to town on Friday to inevitably giving us our twelfth straight loss.
