Sabres @ Senators: 1/9/25 – Game Reactions/Recap

Tonight the Sabres followed up Monday’s fantastic win against the Caps with another really good team effort in a 4-0 shutout win on the road in Ottawa against the Senators.

The Sabres got the first goal of the game 10:17 into the first period with a Jack Quinn and McLeod both getting past the Sens with Quinn beating Forsberg after a quick pass from McLeod on the 2 on 0. Quinn made it 2-0 on his second goal of the game, streaking out of the penalty box after it expired on the breakaway and scoring on a hell of a shot. The Sens I thought were the slightly better team in that first period, but Buffalo still hung in there and gave us the 2-0 lead with the two Quinn goals and the good play in goal by UPL.

With 15:49 remaining in the second period, Dylan Cozen got the puck and sniped in from the slot after the Senators couldn’t clear the puck, putting Buffalo up 3-0. Ryan McLeod got his second point of the game, scoring on his own with 9:38 left in the second, with his pass from left boards intended for Benson going off a Senators’ defenseman’s skate and into the net to make it 4-0 Sabres.

After a scoreless third period and a bit of luck, the Sabres complete the shutout for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen playing great in goal to get Buffalo the win in the second solid win in a row for this team.

FINAL: Sabres 4, Senators 0

There were points tonight that I though the Senators were the better team on the ice, and they outshot us 35-21, but really solid team effort to get our second win in a row. I thought UPL was great in goal, especially early in the first and then late in the game. McLeod and Quinn I thought were very solid as well with a three point night for Ryan McLeod and two goals for the Ottawa native Jack Quinn.

Good win. Back home against the Kraken on Saturday afternoon.
