In a matinee on the road in Seattle today, the Sabres had yet another disappointing game, losing 6-4 to the Kraken, once again in a pathetic effort.
The Sabres scored first 5:07 into the game, with a shot from the blue line by Jack Quinn (I think getting tipped in by Peyton Krebs) to put Buffalo up 1-0. Seattle answered right back though to tie it up just 26 seconds later with John Hayden getting the rebound of a shot in front, and lifting it over Devon Levi who was already down on the ice. The Kraken took their first lead of the game with 8:54 left in the first on a beautiful short side shot in front by Chandler Stephenson, again with Levi on the ice already after giving up a rebound and the Sabres defense not able to clear the puck. That wasn’t a great period. That’s for sure. Levi, the rebound control, and the Sabres not being able to clear the puck was pretty brutal after the quick start.
Matty Beniers made it 3-1 Kraken on a very nice wrist shot in the slot on the power play with 13:19 left in the second period. The Sabres answered with a power play goal of their own with 10:29 left in the second, with a tip in from Jason Zucker right in front of the net to redirect the puck past Joey Daccord. With 4:22 to go in the second, Tage Thompson tied up the game at 3-3, somehow keeping the puck on what looked like he was going to give it away and ripping it past Daccord to cash the over early. The tie game didn’t last long though and less than a minute later with 3:26 left, Jamie Oleksiak scored after some nice puck movement down low by Seattle, to give them a 4-3 lead. We played better in that period, but it still wasn’t great.
With 9:35 left in the game, Adam Larsson made it a 5-3 game on a one timer that beat Levi five hole from the top of the circle. Alex Tuch kept the Sabres in the game, tipping the puck over Daccord to make it a 5-4 game with 1:21 to go with the net empty for Buffalo. 17 seconds later, Jared McCann iced the game for the Kraken with an empty netter.
FINAL: Sabres 4, Kraken 6
Same shit, different game. This team fucking sucks.
