Sabres @ Predators: 2/8/25 – Game Reactions/Recap

The Sabres had their four game win streak come to an end tonight on a pretty pathetic defensive effort, losing 6-4 on the road in Nashville.

The Preds got Tim McGraw playing for the first goal of the game with Tommy Novak beating UPL on a 3 on 1 rush, making it 1-0, 7:25 into the game. They made it 2-0 a few minutes later with 10:34 left in the first on a tip in by Brady Skjei in front. The Sabres got o other board with 4:39 left in the first on a great play, with Jason Zucker holding the puck down low and deep and then passing it up to Byram for a one timer as he entered the zone to make it 2-1. Rasmus Dahlin tied up the game on a great shot with 1:35 left in the period and made it a new game. Fun first period to watch between these two shitty teams.

With 5:29 left in the second period, the Predators took the lead back on the power play, with Forsberg right in front getting the rebound on a shot from Josi and put it in the net to go up 3-2. Brady Skjei followed it up with his second of the game to get back up two goals just 42 seconds later, getting the puck right in the slot and quickly ripping it past UPL to go up 4-2. With 2:17 left in the second, Alex Tuch made it 4-3 off some nice passing for the Buffalo offense, hitting my over early.

Filip Forsberg made it 5-3 Preds, 6:58 into the third period with good passing on a three on three rush in transition with O’Reilly and Marchessault. With 7:30 left in regulation, Dylan Cozens beat Annunen short side on the power play to put Buffalo back within one on some great puck movement by the Sabres.  32 seconds later, Zach Benson scored on a beautiful goal with a nice little move in front on a great play. The Preds challenged it for offsides (by far the dumbest rule in hockey that you can challenge it). Brunette’s challenge was successful, taking the goal off the board. With 35.2 seconds left, Jonathan Marchessault iced the game with an empty netter.

Final: Sabres 4, Predators 6

Knew the Sabres weren’t winning five in a row. Not a chance, even against this shit team that was in the second half of a back to back after getting blown out by the Blackhawks yesterday. The defense was brutal for the Sabres again tonight against a team that’s struggled to score all year. Pathetic.
