Tonight the puck drops on the much anticipated 4 Nations Face-Off tournament with Canada taking on Sweden. The NHL replaced the All Star break this year with international best on best hockey, which myself and the rest of the hockey world are so pumped for.
I originally wasn’t gonna bother doing these blogs and videos, but I’m gonna bet the whole tournament anyway, so fuck it, here I am. Let’s win!
I’m going to take Team USA to win this whole tournament for 2 units at +170. We have the best goaltending by far, the best defense, and an offense that’s neck and neck with Team Canada. Let’s win this thing America.
Canada vs. Sweden (8:00)
With only four teams in this tournament, we may get a few duds of games with some mismatches but I do think this could end up being a decent game. Canada’s offense is elite, where I could see the defense and goaltending struggling a bit for them. Sweden has a pretty good talent at the top, but not a ton of depth. They do have the better goaltending though. I do still think Canada wins this one tonight “at home” in Montreal. I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the over, but don’t like it enough to bet on at 6.5 and don’t think its worth buying down to 5.5 or 6. I’ll take both Sidney Crosby, the captain of Team Canada, who’s excelled in international competition, and has been having a great year for a horrible team on the Pens, and William Nylander, who’s the best player on Sweden to each record a point for half a unit each. I considered taking Filip Gustavsson to record over 30.5 saves, expecting Canada to generate a ton of shots, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Linus Ullmark ends up in the game. The two of them split practice during morning state, so even though Gustavsson is starting and Ullmark’s coming right off an injury, I still don’t love that bet. I expected Connor McDavid’s shot prop to be 3.5, but at 2.5, I will take the over on that for half a unit too. I considered MacKinnon’s shot prop, but don’t think it’s worth betting at 3.5.
