Canada blew a 3-1 third period lead before Mitch Marner won it in OT on a three assist night for Sidney Crosby last night to start the 4 Nations Face-Off in what ended up being such an awesome game. I went 1-3 with Canada going to overtime, losing 2.48 units. Let’s bounce back tonight with USA taking on Finland!
USA vs. Finland (8:00)
This is the biggest mismatch of the tournament, as I think Team USA is the best and most well rounded team while Finland’s definitely the weakest at every position, especially defense. I think Team USA wins this whole tournament, we have by far the best goaltenders, Connor Hellebuyck, the reigning Vezina winner and best goalie in the league this season, will be starting in goal tonight with two very good backups in Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman. Our defense is elite, and our offense is pretty close to as good as Canada’s. Finland has a solid offense and Juuse Saros can steal games in goal, but beyond that it isn’t great for them. They don’t have a ton of scoring depth, their defense is easily the worst in this tournament, and Lankinen and Luukkonen are pretty weak backups for Saros, if he doesn’t perform well, which he really hasn’t this season. The books have this game priced at -375 for Team USA, and that’s with good reason, as I expect our boys to dominate this game. Even the regulation line is too expensive at -255. I will take the puck line for a unit, but the play I really love here is Team USA’s team total over 3.5, which I’ll take for 2 units, along with another half unit shot on the 4.5. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet it. I also considered taking Finland’s team total under 2.5, but I think the price is a little too steep at -180. USA! USA! USA!
