NHL 4 Nations Face-Off Daily Preview – 2/17/25

On Saturday we got two incredible games including USA’s thrilling 3-1 win against Canada. I bet too many props and went 4-7, losing 4.04 units. Today the tournament shifts to Boston with the last two games of round robin play to determine who will face Team USA in the Final! Let’s bounce back!

I also made a side bet for a unit, which I got at even money for Team USA to win the final. So I’m adding that onto my existing future.

Finland vs. Canada (1:00)

This is the biggest mismatch of the tournament, with the price on it coming it at an astounding -450 for Canada. This game matters though, since Canada, Finland, and Sweden are all tied in points to go to the championship game. If either of these teams win this game in regulation, they’re in the championship to face the US, and tonight’s game won’t matter. On Saturday night, Team Canada took their first loss in 27 games with Sidney Crosby in the lineup, the first time Sid’s lost an international game in 15 years. That game was electric, with Team USA defeating Canada 3-1 in a game that saw three fights in the first nine seconds of the game. Finland is the weakest team of this tournament in my opinion, especially defensively. I fully expect Canada to take out their anger from Saturday night’s loss on the Fins this afternoon and win this game in complete dominant fashion. I’ll take the Canada puck line for a unit and their team total over 4.5 for half a unit. I also like Crosby to get a point but since it’s juiced all the way up to -205, I’ll parlay it with McDavid to get a point at even money (boosted up), along with parlaying it with the Canada in regulation separately for a unit each. I’d lean the over, but I’ll just stick to the Canada side of this game. On the Finland side, I’ll go back to Barkov over 1.5 shots on goal for half a unit.

USA vs. Sweden (8:00)

This is kind of an interesting matchup, but likely won’t matter if Canada wins inside of regulation in the early game. Team USA has been the most dominant team of the tournament. Not only are they the only team that going into today has two wins, they’re the only one’s to have won any games in regulation, beating Finland 6-1 and then Canada 3-1. We’re already locked in for a spot in the finals and Team USA will likely sit some stars, including Matthew Tkachuk, who won’t be playing tonight. I don’t think Sweden’s a bad team, but they lost both previous games of the tournament 4-3 in overtime, to Canada to open the tournament after they erased a 3-1 third period deficit, then to their rival Finland on Saturday afternoon in a really fun game. I think even without any reason to play and missing a few players, I still like Team USA to win here at home in Boston and I’ll take them boosted up for a unit. I’d lean the under on the game, but not enough to bet it. The two player props I like are both on the Sweden side. I’ll take William Nylander to record a point and Adrian Kempe over 2.5 shots on goal for half a unit each.
