Easily the best episode tonight of Grant’s underwhelming season of The Bachelor

I haven’t been thrilled with this season of The Bachelor by any means. Just a lot of drama, boring dates, and lousy decisions. But here I am still watching it.

Grant and the remaining seven ladies are in Scotland this week and somehow we’re only a week away from hometowns already in this season. Kind of can’t believe how quick this season has gone, despite it being so lousy so far. A slight twist this week, with no roses on the dates and all of them handled out at the rose ceremony.

Juliana gets the first one on one date of the week. Their date begins with a sight seeing helicopter ride and take it to the shopping date of every season. Both Grant and Juliana get styled by a lady that was a stylist for the king and queen. In their final outfits, they dance in the middle of a room to a string quartet playing 500 Miles. At dinner afterwards, Juliana opens up about growing up and the difficulties she had, dealing with a family member that had addiction, and having to deal with things alone. That makes Grant relate to her a lot on the subject because of his dad. Juliana tells Grant that she’s falling in love with him, and I think they have the strongest connection. She’ll get a rose and hometown date I’m sure, which makes it pretty stupid that they’re not giving out roses on dates this week.

When the last group date card comes, Litia gets the final one on one date, devastating Zoe, who’s the only lady of the group to not have a one on one date. The group date ends up being the Celtic carnival games date. All the girls, besides Carolina, the cause of most of the drama this season, have a good time and the vibes are pretty good on the date. Carolina’s a big time debbie downer, just on her own. As she’s pouting to herself, Grant walks away to talk to her, which irritates the other girls, rightfully so. This is the most real conversation they’ve had with them both voicing their doubts of their relationship going anywhere and she even says that she feels like she’s just a cloud of negativity, which isn’t wrong. Grant even says that this conversation feels like the most real conversation that they’ve had. They decide to keep this going and see what happens, and she stays. During the after party portion of the group date, Zoe, the only one without a one on one, is the first to talk to Grant. She voices her concerns to him and he spin zones it, telling her that he does like her and the way she’s opened up and had real conversations with him the last few times they’ve talked, helping reassure her a bit more. Meanwhile, Dina and Sarafiena both go at Carolina pretty hard. Complete drama. In a way, Carolina is right in that she’s there for herself and Grant, not all the other girls, but she has completely come off horrible all season. Slightly in spite of it, Carolina goes to talk to Grant, this time actually with good vibes. After another conversation with all the girls against Carolina, where I didn’t think she was particularly wrong, although her attitude wasn’t great, Dina goes to talk to Grant and calls out all of the “damsel in distress” drama that Carolina is putting out. That conversation does open Grant’s eyes a bit and gives him some more uncertainty on Carolina.

For the one on one date with Litia, they have the walking through town tour of Scotland to start their date. They have a nice, mature and drama free date, enjoying their time together. At dinner that night, Litia tells Grant that her family is very conservative and that her and her family are Mormon, and that she’s never dated someone’s that not Mormon. That’s a lot to put on Grant. Grant opens up a lot to her about the way he grew up and his struggles and how that he actually wants his future to have that faith and comfort with someone. After Litia comforts him, he tells her that he’s falling for her.

Prior to the rose ceremony, Carolina asks Dina to go talk separately for a sec. Carolina in a very mature way, thanks Dina for everything that she did for her prior to this week and wishes her all the best. This is the best conversation that Carolina’s had with any girl this entire season and it honestly was a very refreshing discussion to watch.

Onto the rose ceremony with four of these ladies going to hometowns. Litia gets the first rose of the night. Juliana gets the second. Not a huge surprise with both of them getting the final one on one dates. Dina gets the next one, again not really a surprise at all. And with the final rose of the evening to go into hometowns…

“Zoe, will you accept this rose?”

So the one girl that didn’t get a one on one goes onto hometowns. Interesting. That sends Carolina, Alexe, and Sarafiena home. I did actually think he was going to give the last rose to Carolina, but it’s probably the better move to send her home. I feel like she’ll actually be one of those girls that was brutal on the normal show but great in Paradise.
