Tonight the Sabres were outworked by the worst team in the NHL, losing 6-2 at home to the San Jose Sharks. A new low point this season for this fucking pathetic franchise.
I thought the Sabres were lucky to get out of the first period with the game tied at 0. The Sharks looked like the far better team, having a ton of great chances, outshooting us 11-5. We took two pretty stupid penalties, the second to Dylan Cozens that I was surprised didn’t lead to a goal. First overall pick Maclin Celebrini looked fantastic with three shots on goal and probably around 8 shot attempts and some really good quality chances. Impressive. UPL did look good in goal for us in that first 20 minutes.
The Sharks scored the first of the game on what needed a review after it somehow got missed on the ice, with Tim Liljegren scoring 1:01 into the second, top shelf right over Luukkonen. 5:13 into second, JJ Peterka tied the game up at 1-1 on the power play on a beautiful one timer, playing the Shout Song through KeyBank Center on Bills night. The Sharks took the lead back with 1:38 left in the second period, on a rebound that went off Cozen’s skate, right to Nico Sturm who scored on an easy empty net. Pretty terrible defense to lead to that goal.
San Jose made it 3-1 just 2:19 into the third period on a real soft goal given up by UPL to William Eklund, with his leg not up against the post and Eklund putting the puck between the pad and the pipe. Buffalo got back within one on a beautiful one timer from the circle from Tage Thompson with 13:05 to tie it up. Maclin Celebrini got it back to a two goal lead just 1:02 later, right off the bench on a rush, sniping the puck top corner in another completely pathetic display by the Sabres defense, all just standing around doing nothing. Another young future star, Will Smith scored on the rush with 7:11 left to go, cashing my over as he beat UPL on a 3 on 1 rush, making it a 5-2 game. Tyler Toffoli capped off the game with an empty netter with about two minutes left, but who cares.

What a pathetic loss for Buffalo tonight, getting completely outworked by the worst team in the NHL. Guess that makes us the worst in the league. Pathetic fucking loser franchise.
Fire everyone.
Trade everyone.
