After ending their six game losing streak with a win against the Oilers on Monday, tonight the Sabres took another pathetic loss in Detroit, losing 7-3 on Buffalo native Patrick Kane’s five point night.
It took just 3:15 for Detroit to score on a one timer from Alex DeBrincat that got immediately called no goal on the ice for goaltender interference, wiping it off the board. The Sabres actually scored first on a quick wrist shot from Tage Thompson off a nice little drop pass and pick play from Bowen Byram, giving Buffalo the 1-0 lead 7:38 into the game. Detroit tied it up with 7:15 left in the period as Buffalo native Patty Kane set up the play, passed it to Simon Edvinsson, who ripped it from the slot, and got the puck tipped in by Marco Kasper. It didn’t take long for the Red Wings to take the lead and with 4:20 to go in the first, Alex DeBrincat ripped a beautiful shot to UPL to give Detroit a 2-1 lead, assisted once again by Patrick Kane. On the power play with 52 seconds left in the first, the Buffalo kid, got his third point of the first period as Showtime ripped it past Luukkonen from the top of the circle to give his Red Wings a 3-1 lead. Buffalo answered back just 14 seconds later with Josh Norris getting his first goal as a Sabre after being traded here from Ottawa on Friday, right in front to make it 3-2. My over looks fucking great on this game. Fun first period. I think Detroit was definitely the better team through the first, but solid hockey for both teams.
The Red Wings made it 4-2 with 9:05 left in the second on a nice bar down shot by Vladdy Tarasenko. Lindy challenged it for goaltender interference, which I probably wouldn’t have done, the call on the ice was right, and not only were we down 2, but Detroit goes on the power play. The Sabres were able to kill it off though. The Sabres got back within one on the power play with a goal from Zach Benson, cashing on my over off a rebound in the slot from a blocked shot, making it 4-3 with with 1:48 left in the first.
Patty Kane picked up his second goal of the game, on the power play again, 1:35 into the third period to make it 5-3, his fourth point of the game, with some nice patience to put a rebound in the back of the empty net in the midst of chaos in front. Marco Kasper scored his second goal of the game, the fifth point for Kane, who had the secondary assist on the goal, getting it over to DeBrincat to Kasper to finish it off and give Detroit the 6-3 lead. Mo Seider added to the lead with Detroit’s third power play goal of the night, a rip from the top of the slot on a 4 on 3 power play that beat Luukkonen glove side, adding to the blowout, making it 7-3 with 5:29 left to go in the game.
FINAL: Sabres 3, Red Wings 7
Fucking pathetic game once again for Buffalo. The defense and UPL were bad, and the offense couldn’t keep up. We couldn’t stay out of the box, which really cost us. This team fucking sucks.
