NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/23/25

Losing Saturday for me on the NHL yesterday, going 5-3 to lose 1.6 units with some surprising results. Today we have a pretty big seven game Sunday slate. Let’s crush it!

Jets vs. Sabres (3:00)

Huge mismatch for this cross conference game between the top team in the West and the worst team in the East. The Jets, coming off a big 4-3 overtime win in Edmonton on Thursday have been fantastic, pretty much locked in first in the West, in a two way race with the Caps for the President’s Trophy. They’ve won six of their last eight games. My Sabres on the other hand are brutal, the worst team in the East. They’re in the second half of a back to back today, coming off an uninspiring 4-1 loss in Minnesota in yesterday’s matinee, a game they looked good in early but fell apart before even getting a goal. The first game between these teams in Buffalo back in December went to OT, with the Jets winning 3-2 on the road. I expect Winnipeg to win this one in even easier fashion. The price on this game’s pretty expensive (but warranted) at -345, but I’ll take the Jets puck line for a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.

Blackhawks vs. Flyers (3:00)

Terrible cross conference game here between two pretty bad teams. The Blackhawks are one of the two worst teams in the NHL, coming into today in the second half of a back to back after a 4-1 loss in St. Louis yesterday (double winner for me), their seventh straight loss. The Flyers are brutal as well, in last place in the Metro Division. They’re on a four game losing streak, coming off forcing OT in Dallas yesterday (to lose my Stars regulation bet), but losing 3-2 anyway. Philly won the first game between these teams at home, 3-2 back in November, but needs overtime to do it. I like them to win again here on the road and will take the Flyers for half a unit. I’d lean the under slightly, but I’m not touching it.

Panthers vs. Penguins (6:00)

Pretty huge mismatch in the East for this game. The Panthers are tied with the Leafs at the top of the Atlantic Division. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 6-3 loss in DC last night in a high scoring game that hit the over in the first period. Florida’s struggled a little bit as of late, with just one win in their last four games. The Penguins are playing better lately, with five wins in their last six games, coming off a 6-3 win at home against the Blue Jackets in Friday night’s only game (easy winner on my over), but on the season Pittsburgh’s been horrible. Both previous games between these teams went to overtime, with them splitting, a 5-4 OT win for the Pens at home in December and a 3-2 shootout win for Florida in January. I like the Panthers to get right here and dominate this game at home, even in the second half of a back to back. I’ll take Florida in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.

Blues vs. Predators (6:00)

This is a boring game in the Central, with both of these teams in the second half of back to backs, coming off wins yesterday. The Blues are playing good hockey right now, in the second Wild Card in the West with a two point lead over Calgary. They’re on a great run right now, on a five game win streak coming off a 4-1 win at home against the Blackhawks yesterday. The Predators are the biggest disappointment in the league, having a horrendous season. Last night they ended a four game losing streak with a surprising 5-2 win at home against the Leafs (loss for me). St. Louis won both prior games between these teams, winning 7-4 at home in December and then 4-1 on the road on Tuesday. I like the Blues to win again here and I’ll take them for a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.

Golden Knights vs. Lightning (8:00)

Fantastic cross conference game here between two very good playoff teams, both in the second half of back to backs. The Golden Knights lead the Pacific Division with a three point lead over the Oilers. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 6-3 win at home against the Red Wings. Tampa’s been great, two points behind the Panthers and Leafs for first in the Atlantic, pretty much locked into the playoffs. They had a three game win streak come to an end in surprising fashion yesterday, losing 6-4 in Utah. The Bolts have a 13-4-1 record in their last 18 games. The Lightning won the first game between these teams 4-3 at home in October. I’d lean Vegas wins this one at home and I’d slightly lean the over, but don’t see an edge in betting anything in this game.

Ducks vs. Hurricanes (8:00)

Huge mismatch in this cross conference game. The Ducks have been horrible this season, but are coming into tonight off a 4-1 win on the road against the Preds on Thursday night. The Canes pretty much have second place in the Metro locked up this season. They had an eight game win streak come to an end yesterday, getting blown out 7-2 at home by the Kings. Anaheim surprisingly won the first game between these teams 3-2 on the road in overtime back in January. I’d fully expect an easy bounce back win here for Carolina and I’ll take the Hurricanes in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the under slightly, but not enough to bet it.

Kings vs. Bruins (9:00)

Lousy cross conference matchup to end the night. The Kings are on fire lately, two points back from the Oilers for home ice in the first round and have won seven of their last eight games, coming off an impressive 7-2 win at home against the Canes last night. The Bruins blow, having dismantled their roster at the deadline. Last night they lost 3-1 to the Sharks for their fifth straight loss, and have just three wins in their last 16 games. Boston won the first game between these teams 2-1 in overtime at home in the first week of the season. This should be an easy win for the Kings and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
