Sabres vs. Senators: 3/25/25 – Game Reactions/Recap

Tonight the Sabres played well, getting a 3-2 win at home in a pretty fun game, finding a way to beat the Senators in a game that I thought they were outplayed in.

The Senators scored right away on a power play with quick goal from Brady Tkachuk just 1:35 into the game off some nice passing from Tim Stutzle and of course, former Sabre Dylan Cozens (real quick cash for me on his point prop). JJ Peterka kept his hot run going, tying the game as he went streaking up the ice with 13:07 left in the period on a nasty pass from Jack Quinn. The Sens challenged it for offsides, which proved to be successful, rightfully taking the goal off the board with the dumbest rule in hockey. Quinn and Peterka got on the board though before the period ended, tying the game for real this time, switching roles with 1:29 left in the first, on a sick spin-o-rama pass from Peterka to Quinn who ripped in the one timer to make it a 1-1 game. Slow start to the game for the Sabres, but I thought we looked pretty good as the period went on, with a strong finish and some quality scoring chances.

Ottawa too the lead back with 12:21 left in the second period, with their second power play goal of the night, on David Perron getting the loose puck off a deflection and putting it past Reimer. Jacob Bernard-Docker, who was included in the Cozens trade made it a 2-2 tie, on a rip of a goal, off the post and in with 7:01 left in the second period. Pretty evenly played period again, with the Sens looking better early and the Sabres looking better late.

The Sabres took their first lead of the game, 1:23 into the third period, with Tage Thompson scoring right in front after some great work by Benson down low to get the the puck to him from behind the net. Buffalo held off the pressure by Ottawa late with the net empty, hanging on for the win.

FINAL: Sabres 3, Senators 2

I thought the Sabres played well tonight in a pretty fun, competitive game. James Reimer especially impressed me once again tonight, with the Sabres getting out chanced 21-13, and outshot 32-24, but still getting the win.
