Sixth winning night in a row for me on the NHL yesterday, going 7-3 to win 0.64 units. I’ll take it. Let’s make it a full week of winners on tonight’s pretty lousy four game slate!
Devils vs. Wild (7:00)
Both of these teams should make the playoffs, but they’re both struggling with a ton of injuries and I don’t see either getting out of the first round, likely both not making it past five games. This is the second half of the home and home between these teams, as they just played on Saturday night, with the Devils winning 5-2 on the road. That Saturday win was just the second win in the last six games for Jersey (the other came against the shitty Blackhawks), as they’ve struggled quite a bit. The Wild have won four of their last seven. Just as I said on Saturday, I think this game is way too much of a toss up on both the side and the total (which I’d slightly lean the under on) to bet on. I’ll stay off this game entirely.
Flyers vs. Predators (7:00)
Brutal cross conference matchup between two of the worst teams in the league this season. The Flyers are coming off a 7-4 win at home against my Sabres on Saturday afternoon, their second win in a row after firing head coach John Tortorella on Thursday following a stretch of just one win in twelve games. The Predators have been the biggest disappointment of the season, only better than the Blackhawks in the Central. Coming off a 3-1 loss at home to the Golden Knights on Saturday, they have just two wins in their last nine games. The first game between these teams back in November went to overtime, with Philly winning 3-2 on the road. I do think Nashville’s the more talented team despite their bad year and I’d lean they win this one on the road to tie the season series, but no shot I’m trusting them enough to bet on. The total’s a toss up to me since both of these teams are horrendous both offensively and defensively. I’ll lay off this game completely.
Avalanche vs. Flames (8:30)
This Western Conference matchup isn’t great. The Avalanche have been on fire lately, comfortably in third place in the Central. They had a four game win streak come to an end on Saturday, losing 2-1 to the Blues at home, but they still have a 12-2-1 record in their last 15 games. The Flames, who are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in Edmonton in the Battle of Alberta on Saturday, are now seven points back from the Wild and Blues for a Wild Card spot out West. After a pretty terrible stretch, they’ve gone 4-1-1 in their last six games. Colorado won both previous games between these teams 4-2 on the road in February and then again a couple weeks ago. I like the Avs to complete the season sweep here at home and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the under, but don’t love it enough to bet on.
Kraken vs. Stars (10:00)
Kind of a big mismatch out West to end the night. These teams just played on Saturday night, with the Stars scoring five unanswered goals, including three in the third period to win 5-1 on the road in a game that the Kraken outshot them 36-21. That was the second win against the Kraken for Dallas, who won the first game between these teams with a 2-0 shutout victory at home back in October. Seattle’s struggled quite a bit this season, and have just one win in their last five games. The Stars on the other hand have been very good, on a five game win streak and eight game point streak to get them just sixpoints back from the Jets at the top of the Central Division. I expect Dallas to complete the season sweep here on the road, and I’ll take them for a unit. I’d lean the over, but not quite enough to bet on it.
