NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/20/25

Happy Easter! I started the NHL Playoffs with a winning night yesterday, going 2-1 to win .72 units. Today we have three more series starting as the first round continues, let’s keep winning!

Hurricanes vs. Devils (3:00)

This game already started and is 1-0 Canes through a period as I’m posting this blog, but I already broke down the series in depth this morning. As I said, I don’t expect a great series here as the #2 seed Carolina Hurricanes take on the #3 seed New Jersey Devils. I don’t see this series being competitive. I fully expect Carolina to win this series in probably five games, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they end up sweeping the Devils. I just don’t see a way the Devils can hang in there without Jack Hughes. I’ll take the Hurricanes to win the series in six games or less for 2.5 units. Expecting the Hurricanes to win this series pretty quickly, I like them to win Game 1 at home today in pretty easy fashion. I’ll take the Canes in regulation for a unit. Although all four games between these teams this season hit the over, I’d lean the games in this series trend under. Both of these teams trended under this year, with the under going 40-34-8 in Canes games and 45-32-3 in Devils games. I’ll stay off the total in Game 1 and evaluate it from there.

Maple Leafs vs. Senators (7:00)

There should be plenty of fireworks with a fun first round matchup of the Battle of Ontario between the Atlantic Division winning Toronto Maple Leafs and the first Wild Card, Ottawa Senators. I broke the series down in depth earlier today. Although the Sens were pretty solid this year and I do think they win a couple games in this series, Toronto’s an elite team this season and I expected them to win it. They’re -190, which is I think overpriced. I’ll play this series game by game. I also considered betting the series to go at least 6 games, but at the -168 price, if I think Ottawa wins two games, then I’m better off just betting the games were that happens. I’m not touching any series props on this one. I do like the Leafs to win Game 1 tonight, which I’ll take for a unit. I think the totals in this series are a complete toss up. The games in the regular season series between these rivals went under 5.5 in two of the three games. Both teams trended slightly under on the season, with the under in Leafs games going 40-38-4 and 39-35-8 in Sens games. I’ll stay off the total in Game 1 tonight, and evaluate it as the series goes on.

Golden Knights vs. Wild (10:00)

I wouldn’t anticipate this being a great series out West with the Pacific Division winning Vegas Golden Knights facing the first Wild Card Minnesota Wild. I think this ends up being a pretty quick series, which I broke down in depth earlier today. Vegas is the far better team in this series and my pick to win the Stanley Cup, just as they were in the first week of the season when I took my future on them to win it at +1800. I expect them to cruise through this first round in probably five game, and maybe even sweep the series. Not only am I letting my future ride, but I’m doubling down on it with 3 units on the Knights to win the series in six games or less, along with a half unit shot at them at +200 to win it in four or five games. Expecting the Golden Knights to dominate this series, I like them to win Game 1 tonight at home in the Fortress pretty easily and I’ll triple down on them with 2 units on Vegas in regulation. I’d lean the games in this series trend under. The under hit in two of the three games they played this season and both teams far trended under, with the under going 43-36-3 in Vegas games and 44-35-3 in Minnesota games. I’ll start off with the under in Game 1 for half a unit.
