NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/23/25

Winning night on the NHL playoffs yesterday that should’ve been great but Vegas let me down, so I went 4-2 to win 1.28 units. Tonight we have three more great playoff matchups. Let’s win again!

Game 2: Capitals vs. Canadiens (7:00)

The Capitals definitely looked like the better team in Game 1 of this series on Monday night, but giving up two goals in the second half of the third period including a strange one for Nick Suzuki’s tying goal with less than five minutes left in the third period to force overtime (losing my regulation bet on the Caps), but who else but Alex Ovechkin to win it in OT on his first playoff overtime game winner of his career. Although the Habs hung around in that game better than I thought they would, I still don’t see them winning maybe more than one game in this series. I’ll go back to the Caps in regulation tonight for 1.5 units. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.

Game 3: Avalanche vs. Stars (9:30)

After losing 5-1 in Game 1 of this series in a much closer game than the score looked like, the Stars played much better in an awesome Game 2, tying up the series with a 4-3 overtime win at home on Monday on Colin Blackwell’s game winner in a very entertaining OT. I still think this series goes to at least Game 6, and still think the Avs are the better team and win the series. I’ll go back to the Avs here at home after they took home ice in the series and I’ll take them for a unit, along with half a unit on the over 6.

Game 2: Kings vs. Oilers (10:00)

The third period of Game 1 of this series was an all time classic. The Kings were cruising early in this game, with a 4-0 lead until there was just six seconds left in the second period when Leon Draisaitl broke the shutout. The Oilers came roaring back, led by a four point night by Connor McDavid, including him scoring the game tying goal with 1:28 left in regulation. But then Phil Danault scored with 42 seconds left in the third period, getting LA the 6-5 win in electric fashion at home. This is going to be a fantastic grind of a series. I like the Kings to win again at home tonight and I’ll take them for half a unit in what I think will be a seven game series. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it after what happened in the third period of Game 1.
