I went 2-2 last night on another solid night of NHL playoffs, losing 0.54 units on the Avs game in OT. Tonight we have another great slate of four games. Let’s crush it!
Game 2: Lightning vs. Panthers (6:30)
Game 1 of the Battle of Florida on Tuesday wasn’t nearly as great as we expected it to be, with the defending Cup Champs, the Panthers dominating on their way to a 6-2 blowout on the road. I thought that going into this series that it would be Tampa that wins it this year, in probably a long seven game series. Although if the series continues like that first game did, that’s clearly not happening. I’d slightly lean the Lightning tie it up here at home before heading to Lauderdale, but I’m not betting it. I will go right back to the over though for a unit.
Game 3: Senators vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
The Leafs are up 2-0 in the Battle of Ontario heading to Ottawa tonight for this rivalry matchup. In Game 1, the Senators played pretty poorly, clearly not having experience in the playoffs and the Leafs capitalized on that, pounding them for a 6-2 win. The Sens played way better, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime before Max Domi ended it in OT to give the Leafs their series lead. Going into this series, I expected the Sens to likely win a game or two, which I do still think happens on the way to a Toronto series win. I could see them getting the win tonight, but expecting the Leafs to win the series, I’ll take them again tonight for a unit at +110. I’ll also take the over for half a unit.
Game 3: Wild vs. Golden Knights (9:00)
Minnesota, and really Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy have really impressed me through the first two games of this series in Vegas, taking home ice after they won Game 2 in pretty shocking fashion. After the Knights outworked the Wild in Game 1 to win 4-2 (shoulda been 3-2, but whatever, not bitter), they didn’t look great to start Game 2, getting in a 4-0 deficit at home early in the second period. The comeback effort feel short despite VGK outshooting the Wild 32-17, but they still lost 5-2. I already have half a unit riding on tonight’s game if Vegas doesn’t win it in five, but I feel like they have to bounce back here, so I’m doubling down on my Knights, with 1.5 units on the moneyline, that’s kind of pricey on the road. They’re still winning this series in six, but it’s gonna be a bigger grind to get to than I thought. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Game 3: Blues vs. Jets (9:30)
This series has been a lot of fun with both teams playing well and the Jets getting out to a 2-0 series lead winning both games at home, coming off another close 2-1 win at home. I thought St. Louis played really well in Game 1 too, in a game that was tied 3-3 with just a couple minutes to go. I still like this series to go at least six games, and I like the Blues to win this one at home, which I’ll take a shot on for half a unit. I’ll also lay the ridiculous -162 on the under for half a unit.
