Break even night for me yesterday on the NHL Playoffs, going 3-3. I’ll take it. Today we have another staggered four game slate with the ability to cash a few series bets. Let’s go!
Game 4: Blues vs. Jets (1:00)
I thought this series would go at least six or seven games and that the Blues would actually hang in there and make it a series, despite the Jets likely winning it. St. Louis kept it close through the first two games of the series in Winnipeg, despite losing both of those game and then in Game 3 they came out swinging with a 7-2 blowout at home to make this a 2-1 series. Solid win. I have a 2 unit series bet on it going over 5.5 games, that will cash with a Blues win either tonight or in Game 5, which I think happens. I considered doubling down on the Blues and also thought a bit about hedging with the Jets, but I’ll worry about that in Game 5 if it matters. I’ll stay off any game bets here and just ride that out. Go Blues! I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it. So for the first time in these playoffs, I’ll lay off a game completely.
Game 4: Devils vs. Hurricanes (3:30)
The Canes have a 2-1 series lead here and I was pretty disappointed that they’re not going for the sweep here this afternoon on the road. The Devils played much better in Games 2 and 3 after looking horrendous in Game 1, but Carolina’s still the far better team in this series. Game 3 went to 2OT, with the Devils getting the win on Simon Nemec’s goal after the Hurricanes erased a 2-0 third period deficit to take it to overtime. I still like the Canes to win this series in five games (with series bets on them to win it in 5 and 6). Not only am I letting those both ride, I’ll double down on Carolina here for a unit. I also like the under, which I’ll take for a unit as well.
Game 4: Canadiens vs. Capitals (6:30)
Things got heated in Game 3 of this series on Saturday night in Montreal with a bench clearing brawl to end the game. The Habs got the 6-3 win with three unanswered goals in the third period to end it after Ovechkin tied the game to start the third. I like the Caps, who are the way better team to answer back with a win on the road to take a 3-1 series lead back to close it in DC. I’ll take Washington for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Game 4: Oilers vs. Kings (9:30)
The Oilers finally showed signs of life in this series in Game 3 at home after getting absolutely dominated in Games 1 and 2 in LA. They flipped the script in the third period of Game 3, scoring four unanswered (2 on the empty net), to come back and win 7-4 and make this a series. I like the Oilers to win again tonight at home to tie it up, and I’ll just let me series play on it to go over 5.5 games to ride here tonight. I also have the Kings to win the series, so no need to hedge it. I love the over though, which I’ll take at 6 for 2 units.
