NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/29/25

Neither of last night’s NHL Playoff games went the way I wanted them to, losing my only bet on the Avs to drop 1.36 units. Tonight we have four game 5s to bounce back, with two of those series likely ending. Let’s win!

Game 5: Maple Leafs vs. Senators (7:00)

This game probably shouldn’t be happening tonight, as the Sens got the overtime game winner from Josh Sanderson in Game 4 to avoid the sweep after Auston Matthews cranked what should’ve been the series winner off the pipe on a power play late in the third. Good for Ottawa for hanging in these games, but that said, I don’t see this series lasting any longer than tonight. The Leafs are ending it at home. I’ll take Toronto for 2 units, sticking with what I said that I’d double down on them if they lost Game 4, along with half a unit on the puck line. I like the over here too in an elimination game, which I’ll take for a unit.

Game 5: Hurricanes vs. Devils (7:30)

This series is donezo tonight. The Devils avoided the sweep in this series with their double overtime win at home in Game 3 in what wasn’t a great game to begin with, but the Canes bounced right back and dominated Game 4 on the road with a 5-2 win to take a 3-1 series lead back to Carolina tonight for Game 5. It’s over, I fully expect it, and the books do too with the moneyline at -285. I essentially already have the moneyline at a far better number of -120 for 1.5 units, with them to win the series in five games that I added after Game 1 to go along with my series play for 2.5 units on them to win it in six or less. I considered doubling down on Carolina to add to those other two bets, but at this price (and with their regulation line at -170), I’ll just ride those out, already getting immense value. I’ve liked the under this whole series, especially with it hitting pretty easily in Games 1-3, but with this being an elimination game, I’ll stay off it since we’ll likely see the Devils pull Markstrom early. If you don’t have any Hurricanes series bets like I do, hammer them to win in regulation tonight.

Game 5: Golden Knights vs. Wild (9:30)

This series has been a roller coaster for me with my Golden Knights future on them to win the Cup. I severely underrated Minnesota in it. With a healthy lineup this is a very good team, but I still don’t think they’re better than the Golden Knights. I’ve been sweating every game, as the Wild have played awesome hockey, but this series is tied heading back to Vegas after a 4-3 overtime win on the road for the Knights on Saturday night. I have 3.3 units riding on the Golden Knights to win this series in six, and I think i have to hedge that at least a bit, so I’ll go with a unit on the Wild here as a hedge, although I’m more worried about Game 6 on the road than I am with Vegas tonight, so I’ll go with a unit as a hedge I hope to lose tonight, and then figure out Game 6 from there. I like the over as well in this game, which I’ll take for a unit, which hopefully hits in a VGK win to break even on this game.

Game 5: Kings vs. Oilers (10:00)

It’s insane that this series is tied going back to LA, seeing that the Oilers have been dominated for the majority of this series. The Kings have been the far better team in all four games of this series and it’s insane how much they collapsed in the third periods of Game 1 (although they won), Game 3, and Game 4. I’ll take hitting the overs, which was quite the sweat in Game 4, with Bouchard tying the game with 29 seconds left in regulation on the way to Edmonton’s 4-3 win, and I’ll take the win on my over 5.5 games series play, but LA’s still the far better team here. They come home tonight where they’ve been the best team in the league, and I like this spot for them a lot to bounce back from those two losses on the road, where they’ve been the worst team in the Western Conference. I’ll take the Kings for 1.5 units, and I’m right back on the over 6 here for 2 units again. Let’s crush it.
