Solid night on the NHL Playoffs yesterday, going 3-1, the loss coming in OT, to win 2.1 units. Tonight let’s keep it rolling on Friday night’s two big games!
Game 3: Panthers vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
Both games in Toronto to start this series ended up being pretty close, with Toronto having a 2-0 series lead, winning both games by a goal as the series shifts down to Lauderdale. Game 1 of this series was pretty fun, with the Panthers comeback falling short. The Leafs capitalized on some bad defense early for Florida, who gave up some bad odd man breaks. William Nylander scored just 33 seconds into the game and it was 3-1 after a period, and 4-1 after two. In the third, the Panthers started their comeback, making it 4-3 before giving up a breakaway to Matthew Knies with six minutes left in the game, and losing 5-4. In Game 2, Florida was the better team in a back and forth game, but the Leafs still got the win at home, winning 4-3 in a game they were outshot 28-20. This is a must win game for Florida at home tonight. They can’t go down 0-3 to this Leafs team and expect to go on the road to win four straight. I think they get it done here tonight at home. The price on this game was way more expensive than I thought it would be, but I’ll still take the Panthers in their must win here and will take them in regulation for a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll take at 6 for a unit too.
Game 2: Jets vs. Stars (9:30)
The first game of this series on Tuesday night was interesting, as Mikko Rantanen made it back to back hat tricks in the playoffs with his Stars winning 3-2 on his natural hat trick, in a game that only saw goals in the second period. The Stars are the better team in this series, but I think the Jets have to win this game at home here or they’re probably getting swept. Connor Hellebuyck did look much better in Game 1 than he did in the first round against the Blues. I’ll take Winnipeg here for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
