Since Florida needed overtime I didn’t sweep, but broke even on the NHL Playoffs last night, going 2-1. Tonight we have two Game 3s, let’s win on them both!
Game 3: Hurricanes vs. Capitals (6:00)
This series is all tied up heading back to Carolina tonight for Game 3. The Hurricanes were the far better team in Game 1, needing overtime but winning 2-1 on the road on Jaccob Slavin’s OT winner after outshooting the Caps 33-14. Washington played much better in Game 2 at home on Thursday night, getting me a double winner on their 3-1 victory. The Canes have looked much better through this series, and I like them to win tonight at home. I’ll take the Hurricanes in regulation for a unit. I’m going right back to the under as well, expecting another defensive matchup and will take it for 1.5 units.
Game 3: Oilers vs. Golden Knights (9:00)
With my Golden Knights future from October and my series bet on them, I don’t love how Games 1 and 2 of this series went. The Oilers came back from an 0-2 deficit in the first period of Game 1 and were the better team on their way to their 4-2 win. In Game 2, Vegas was the much better team in a back and forth fun game. Adin Hill was pretty bad early in Game 2, while Cal Pickard played his best game I’ve ever seen. Hill was great late, and the Knights killed off a five minute penalty which was huge in overtime and after that I thought they’d win for sure, but it was Connor McDavid setting up Leon Draisaitl for the game winner in OT after a non-call that should’ve put Vegas on the power play, and now the Oilers have a 2-0 series lead heading back to Edmonton. Vegas absolutely needed a win in Game 2, so it stinks they lost that one. I could still see them coming back, but it’s going to be a tough road. I considered betting on my Knights here in a must win game, since they can’t go down 0-3, and then I considered hedging with the Oilers a bit, but I’ll just stay off the side in this game. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for a unit.
