I split my NHL plays yesterday on the playoffs, going 2-2, winning my sides but losing the totals, essentially breaking even, losing 0.18 units. Tonight we have two huge Game 4s, let’s cash in!
Game 4: Hurricanes vs. Capitals (7:00)
The Canes can take a commanding 3-1 lead in this series with a win at home tonight. I think I was quite wrong on my read of this series and fully expect Carolina, who’s much stronger defensively to win it. After the Hurricanes dominated Game 1 and got a 2-1 overtime win on the road, the Capitals bounced back nicely with a 3-1 win at home to even the series. But Carolina answered back even better in Game 3, with a 4-0 shutout win at home for Freddy Andersen. I like the Canes to win again here, so I’ll go against my series bet here and I’ll lay the -190 on Carolina in regulation for a unit. I’ll go right back to the under as well for 1.5 units.
Game 4: Oilers vs. Golden Knights (9:30)
This series has been awesome, with great hockey in all three games of it. The Oilers lead the series 2-1 now, with Vegas winning 4-3 on an insane ending to an incredible game on Saturday night. The first period saw four goals with Corey Perry scoring twice to start the game with Vegas answering back with three straight goals to take the lead. Connor McDavid tied the game up with 3:02 left in regulation, and with 0.3 seconds on a horrible play by Stuart Skinner coming out of the net, original misfit Reilly Smith threw the puck at the net, and it deflected in by Leon Draisaitl for the game winner. Solid answer back from the Oilers two wins in Vegas to start the series, as Edmonton was the better team in Game 1, and then got a nice break to end it in overtime from McDavid and Draisaitl. With the Knights back in the series now, I’m a bit less worried than I was after Game 2 on my series and +1800 future from October. I’d slightly lean the Oilers answer with a win at home although I think the Knights are the better team and have played better in the series, despite being down 2-1. I’ll stay off the side in this game, but I’ll go back to the over again for a unit. Let’s go VGK!
