The Panthers late win last night to go to the Cup Finals was SO huge for me, going 3-0 to win 7.05 units. Big bounce back from Game 4. Tonight the Oilers have the chance to make it a rematch of last year’s finals, let’s win again!
Game 5: Stars vs. Oilers (8:00)
Going into this series, I thought the Stars were the better team, but McDavid and Draisaitl took over the series and now they’re a win away from making it a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, looking to get their revenge on the awaiting Florida Panthers that defeated them in seven games last year after the Oilers came back from a 3-1 series deficit. They’ll look to avoid that comeback they had flipping the script on them in this series. Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals was pretty insane as the Oilers pretty much dominated the first two periods of that game, but completely collapsed in the third period. They gave up five straight unanswered goals in the third period, not able to stay out of the box, allowing three in a row on the power play in the first 5:58 of the third to blow a 3-1 lead as Dallas poured it on to win 6-3. The Oilers answered right back in Game 2 on the road in more impressive fashion, with a dominant 3-0 shutout for Stuart Skinner, who made 25 saves to tie up the series. The Stars were generating decent scoring chances, but not shots on goal. The Oilers now lead this series, getting a dominant 6-1 win at home in Game 3 on Sunday afternoon, scoring four unanswered in the last 20:19 of the game and Stuart Skinner making 33 saves on the 34 shots he saw. Game 4 on Tuesday night was close, but the Oilers pulled away with a 4-1 win at home, capping the game off with two empty netters and outshooting Dallas 33-29. It wasn’t entirely all good news in that Game 4 win for Edmonton though, as Zach Hyman is now out the rest of the season after getting injured in that game. The Oilers have been the better team in all but one period of this series. I have a series bet on the Stars that will lose me three units (hopefully tonight), so I’ll flip that to the Oilers with 4 units on Edmonton tonight at + money. If I didn’t have that series bet, I’d be on them for likely just 1.5 units. I like the over as well tonight with it being an elimination game, which I’ll take for half a unit. I’m going right back to the player props I’ve been riding the last few games too, with half a unit each on McDavid over 1.5 points, Draisaitl over 1.5 points, and Bouchard over half a point. Let’s get a big Oilers win and lock in what should be a fantastic Stanley Cup Finals rematch.
