April Saves Jonathan for Another Week on Bachelor in Paradise

Last week with back to back episodes, not only did all kinds of drama continue in Paradise, but the goldens arrived with a fantastic welcome, bringing a new dynamic to the resort. I’m loving this season so far through three episodes. Let’s see what twists come this week!

The goldens are running Paradise, with April hitting on Jonathan and Leslie running a water aerobics class that looks like a blast for everyone.

It’s interesting seeing the goldens make connections. Like even a quick conversation between Natascha and RJ is cool to watch. Arriving to Paradise in style with a whole music and dance routine welcoming him in, Gary, a fan favorite from the Golden Bachelorette. Guy’s great vibes.

Everyone does shots for Kathy’s birthday, and ironically Kathy’s never done a shot, so her first one is a body shot off CK. These goldens are wild!

Gary gets the first golden date card of Paradise to go dancing. He considers between asking Leslie or Natascha to go on the date, and he asks Leslie to go on the first golden date of Paradise.

Dale and Kat talk about their relationship and he says he’s not really interested to explore other relationships if other girls come in, and he says with Alli Jo that there wasn’t really a connection. Kat asks him if they kissed outside of the kissing booth and Kat says take “a pink flag has turned into a red flag” and she’s clearly not happy. She rants about it to Jonathan.

Gary and Leslie have a blast and hit it off going salsa dancing in the rain on their date. Just like I said about the Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette feeling so much more real and genuine than the younger shows, it feels the same way with the maturity in Paradise from the goldens while they’re still having a great time.

The ladies have the roses this week, with three guys going home. Two of the goldens, and one of the young guys. One of them, I’m assuming is Captain Kim. This dude’s so awkward. He thinks he has a connection with Leslie, who tells the confessional that he’s in the friend zone and she has zero interest in him. Then April goes to throw herself at him, and the dude so awkwardly says he doesn’t see it with her. Like take the rose man. I didn’t think it would get worse than him getting the guys to rematch the Sound of Music, but that was tough to watch. Jack swoops in to talk to him. I feel like they’d be fun to see connect. She reassures him that he’s getting her rose and just makes out with him. It’s great.

April pulls Jonathan away to talk to him. She and then Kathy give him a little hype up speech as he’s likely going home.

Kat asks Dale to go talk. She really digs into that they didn’t talk with the whole Alli Jo kiss. It’s a little bit ridiculous of Kat to bring it up and keep digging into it, but Dale doesn’t handle it great, just pushing back on it that it was nothing and saying he “deaded it”. He says it sounds a lot like his ex. Not a great line. Jonathan’s just sitting in the sidelines waiting to jump in on that. He pulls Kat away to talk and she loves it. Kat goes back to talk to Dale and they get into a whole other argument about it. Give the rose to Jonathan, girl.

Rose ceremony time.

First the easy ones. Parisa gives her rose to Brian, Bailey’s goes to Jeremy, Alexe’s to Andrew. The first golden rose, Natascha. She gives her rose to Gary, which surprises me a bit. I thought she’d give it to RJ, but her and Gary kicked it off with two big conversations. Leslie, who was going to give hers to Gary, has to rethink it and ends up giving her’s to Kim. Kathy gives Keith her rose, no surprise there. Jess’s rose obviously goes to Spencer. Jill gives her rose to Sean. Now the most interesting one, Kat. She ends up giving Dale the rose, which is a little disappointing. So Jonathan’s going home. April has the final rose of the evening, and…

“Jonathan”

April says that she wants to give him another opportunity to “feel valued for what other people might not see but she does”. That’s very nice of her.

That sends the three goldens, RJ, Jack (who kind of got screwed with the Jonathan rose), and CK home.

Right after the rose ceremony, Kat and Dale get into another argument about the whole situation after she tried to make a joke about the whole “deaded it” thing. So obviously that relationship is over.

Another note for the production on this season, whole other level of TV.

The interactions between Gary, Leslie, Natascha, and Kim feels quite awkward to watch. Clearly the only connection there is Gary and Leslie. Kim writes another poem and reads it to Leslie. AWKWARD. She pretty much immediately friend zones him right away after that.

Two new ladies come into Paradise. Nancy, one of my favorites from the Golden Bachelor, and Lea from Joey’s season of the Bachelor. They each get date cards and Jesse says there’s going to be more arrivals as well.

Nancy’s a big hit for the goldens, all the ladies are jealous of her being hot. Keith tells her that even though he’s having fun with Kathy, he doesn’t feel a romantic connection with her.

Lea’s only two options seem to be Sean and obviously Jonathan.

Another lady rides into Paradise, Faith, coming in on a horse. I liked her a lot too when she finished in third place on the Golden Bachelor.

More to come as the game changes in Paradise. Challenges, higher stakes, more craziness, challenges, and pretty much a whole new show. I can’t wait!
