Paradise has really heated up this season. Several decent connections. Plenty of drama. Goldens on the beach. It’s been great!
Gary, or as he calls himself “Big G” is the golden bachelor of Paradise. He went on dates with Leslie and Nancy and had a great time with both of them. I do really like seeing the interactions the goldens have between all of them, even with the sad conversations about losing their spouses.
On the younger side of the beach, we’re back on Kat and Dale having more toxic conversations when they’re going no where, while he’s into the new girl, Allyshia.
Onto the rose ceremony with the guys in control of the roses. Three Golden ladies going home.
Brian’s up first and obviously gives it to Parisa. Then all the other obvious ones. Dale’s up and is still considering between Kat and Allyshia. He ends up still giving it to Kat. Then Sean gives his to Allyshia. Jonathan gives his rose to Lea after they had gone on a date. I was sort of hoping he’d repay the favor to April and save a golden for a week. Now the goldens. Keith gives his rose to Kathy, who are really the only golden couple. Kim’s next and gives his to Faith after also considering Nancy and Leslie. Gary, with the final rose of the evening…
“Leslie”
I do think he made the right decision there, although I like all of the goldens. That sends Nancy, April, and Natascha home. Sad to see them go.
Immediately following the rose ceremony, “we’re raising the stakes”. Jesse says that no one else will be arriving to Paradise, and everything else will just be challenges to test your relationships, and the chance to win $500,000. Completely different show. Immediately.
All of the couples are having their own individual discussions while they prepare to find out what the new game of this show for half a million dollars entails. Wells heads down to everyone and all the couples get boxes of their first relationship test with poker chips.
Winning the challenge guarantees you a rose, while the bottom three couples lose their roses. Then its the side, this week the ladies, who will then decide who gets the final two roses.
For this first challenge the couples bet on high or low on a bunch of questions about the other. It is a fun challenge! I also fucking love gambling though, so it’s right up my alley. Obviously, this is a gambling website, not a Bachelor website. Brian and Parisa are horrendous at it, while everyone else is doing pretty well. Jeremy and Bailey are tied for the lead, and Jeremy decides to bet their whole stack on their final question and he’s correct, pretty much locking up the one on one date. Dale plays it safe and the two of them end up getting every question right. Lastly, Gary and Leslie, and Gary decides to risk half his stack, losing to drop to third last for absolutely no reason.
Bailey now has the choice to give the roses to two of Leslie, Faith and Parisa.
On their date, it seems like Jeremy is heading more in the direction of Bailey now that half a million dollars are at stake where last week he was all about that he made the wrong decision and was still just into Susie.
Brian and Parisa have a lousy conversation that shows that they’re not on the same page, which kind of got proven out with them getting almost every question in the challenge wrong. Bailey could make this decision so easy and just not give her a rose.
As the guys are talking about who could get sent home, there’s quite a bit of animosity between Brian and Jeremy. Not great for either of them after Jeremy spilled that he’s not there for Bailey and Brian on the chopping block.
At the cocktail party, Brian and Parisa get into another stupid conversation with Parisa wanting Brian to focus on her while Brian just wants to schmooze Jeremy and Bailey for the rose.
Kat asks Jonathan about the connection he has with Lea, which I think is a more friendly relationship, as does Jonathan. Right after that Kat tells Lea that. Lea goes to talk to Jonathan, who confirms that, and Lea just walks away.
Parisa continues to get pissed at Brian, who hasn’t had a conversion whatsoever with her.
The two golden couples on the chopping block have great conversions with Bailey and Jeremy to try to push to get the roses.
After that, Brian goes to pull Jeremy. That conversion ain’t great, with Brian bringing up that Jeremy’s an asshole that’s not there for the right reasons. Also, Brian’s really letting this whole power thing get to his head, which makes him seem like an even bigger asshole.
First rose ceremony with the new change. The only normal rose that sort of matters, is Lea, who just gives him the rose and says “you’re welcome”. With the final two roses, Bailey joins Jesse at the podium. Bailey gives the first rose to Faith and Kim. Great choice. With the final rose…Bailey calls Leslie up, and says that she can’t offer her that rose, emotionally sending Gary and Leslie home. I think that’s absolutely the wrong choice. Should’ve sent out Brian and Parisa. It also sucks that Gary and Leslie essentially sent themselves home with Gary’s stupid bet.
I’m not sure what I think of this new half a milly twist. On one hand, it’s fun and I think it could end up pulling couples closer as they compete together, but it also could just lead to playing the game and completely losing what this franchise is built on…finding love.
Next week the stakes go up even higher and these relationships continue to get tested.
Must watch TV.
