NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 10/17/25

Slight winning night for me yesterday on the NHL, going 6-4 on the big slate to win 0.37 units. I’ll take it. Tonight we have an interesting four game slate, let’s win again!

Red Wings vs. Lightning (7:00)

This Atlantic Division matchup is very interesting to me with the way that these teams have started their seasons. The Red Wings look great in their 3-1 start, all against division opponents that made the playoffs this year. The Lightning are off to a disappointing 1-2-1 start, coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in a fantastic game on the road against the Caps on Tuesday night. I still think the Bolts are the better team here, and I think they win on the road, but this matchup is best to stay off of. I’d lean the over, but not enough to take it at 6.5.

Capitals vs. Wild (7:00)

Pretty solid cross conference matchup. Both of these teams are pretty decent to start the season. The Capitals look great, with three straight wins after their opening night loss at home to the Bruins, coming off that awesome 3-2 victory in overtime against the Lightning on Tuesday. The Wild have been a bit inconsistent in their 2-2 start. I’d lean the Caps win at home tonight, but not enough to bet on them. The total’s a complete toss up to me.

Blackhawks vs. Canucks (8:30)

Kind of an interesting cross conference game here with both of these teams coming off surprising wins. The Blackhawks shocked me with their 8-3 win on the road in St. Louis on Wednesday for their second win in a row. I still think this team sucks though and a game like that highlights the inconsistencies of teams this early in the season. The Canucks are in the second half of a back to back, beating the Stars 5-3 on the road in a surprising game last night (loss for me). I’d lean the Canucks win this one, but with them in the second half of a back to back on the road, I’ll stay off it. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.

Sharks vs. Mammoth (9:00)

Kind of a boring game here to end the night. I still think the Sharks have improved despite their 0-1-2 record so far, but looked better than last year in those two overtime losses to the Golden Knights and Ducks. The Mammoth are 2-2 and I haven’t really gotten a feel for them yet this year. I do like them to get the win on the road here though and I’ll take Utah in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet on that with how bad San Jose’s defense has looked.

Bets

.5u Mammoth in regulation (-165)

Record: 25-22 (-9.08 units)
