Slight losing day for me yesterday on the NHL’s big slate, going 5-6 to lose 0.99 units. Let’s bounce back on today’s four game Sunday slate going up against the NFL.
Capitals vs. Canucks (12:30)
Not the best game to start off the day. The Capitals have looked great to start the season, 4-1 with four straight wins after dropping their season opener to the Bruins, coming off a big 5-1 blowout against the Wild at home on Friday night. The Canucks are 3-2 and have been a bit inconsistent, and I’m not sold on them being a good team. I like Washington to win here and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Red Wings vs. Oilers (3:00)
Great cross conference matchup here. The Red Wings have been quite impressive in their 4-1 start to the year, on a four game win streak against the three teams that were at the top of the Atlantic Division last year. The Oilers are in the second half of a back to back, coming off a 5-3 loss in Jersey yesterday afternoon. With Edmonton in the second half of a back to back on the road, I’d lean Detroit stays hot here with a win at home, but not enough to bet it. I’d slightly lean the under, but I’m not touching it.
Blackhawks vs. Ducks (7:00)
This Western Conference matchup isn’t all that great. Both of these teams have improved this year and have shown signs from their young guys that their franchises are on an upwards trajectory. I’d lean the Ducks win this one, but not enough to bet it. The total’s a toss up to me. I’ll stay off this game entirely.
Mammoth vs. Bruins (7:00)
Kinda a snooze fest to end the night. The Mammoth have been decent, but their wins have come against pretty lousy teams in their 3-2 start to the season. The Bruins are in the second half of a back to back, coming off a 4-1 loss in Colorado last night (winner for me). They’ve come back down to Earth after their surprising 3-0 start to the season. I like Utah to win here at home and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the over, but didn’t consider betting the total.
