NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 10/22/25

Solid winning night yesterday on the NHL, an OT loss for the Avs away from another sweep, going 4-1 to win 1.26 units. Tonight we have three solid games, let’s make it three winning nights in a row!

Devils vs. Wild (7:00)

Interesting cross conference matchup. The Devils are off to a great start to the season, on a five game win streak to improve to 5-1 after dropping their first game of the year. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 5-2 win in Toronto last night. The Wild haven’t been all that great, with a 3-3-1 record, but ended a three game losing streak on Monday with a 3-1 win on the road against the Rangers, giving up a goal in the first minute of the game and then shutting down New York after that. I’d lean Jersey wins this one, but with them in the second half of a back to back, I’ll lay off it. I’d slightly lean the over, but didn’t even consider betting the total, so I’ll stay off this game completely.

Sabres vs. Red Wings (7:30)

Not the best Atlantic Division matchup with the way these teams have started their seasons, and the line doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I don’t think my 2-4 Sabres are good whatsoever, and after their two surprising wins against the Panthers and Senators, they lost 4-2 on the road in Montreal on Monday, starting slow, looking awful in the first period but playing decent after that. The Red Wings are one of the hottest teams in hockey, on a five game win streak to get to 5-1 on the season, coming off a 4-2 win at home against the Oilers on Sunday. I like Detroit to win this one, and don’t get why the line is a pick’em. I’ll take the Red Wings for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it. I have lacrosse later, so no live watch/recap blog tonight.

Flames vs. Canadiens (8:30)

Lousy cross conference game here. The Flames have been awful, on a six game losing streak coming off a 2-1 loss at home to the Jets on Monday after they started the year with a shootout win in the Battle of Alberta. They’re struggling on both ends of the ice. Meanwhile the Habs are electric, one of the most fun young teams in the NHL to watch. They bounced back from Saturday’s 4-3 loss at home to the Rangers with a 4-2 win against my Sabres on Monday night. I like Montreal to win again here on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit at a cheaper price than I expected. I’d very slightly lean the over at 5.5, but I’m not betting it.

Bets

.5u Red Wings ML (-112)

.5u Canadiens ML (-125)

Record: 38-30 (-7.63 units)
