I got reverse swept last night on the NHL, going an awful 0-7 to lose 4.24 units. Have to bounce back on tonight’s decent four game slate!
Sabres vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
Kind of an interesting matchup here for the first half of this home and home between my Sabres and our biggest rival up the QEW. The Sabres are coming off a solid 4-2 win at home against Detroit on Wednesday and we have three wins in our last four games. Playing better than I expected, but I still think this team stinks. The Leafs have struggled, starting their season 3-3-1, looking solid offensively as expected, but struggling on the back end. I still think Toronto’s the better team here and I’ll take the Leafs for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but don’t like it enough at 6.5.
Devils vs. Sharks (7:00)
Huge mismatch in this cross conference game. The Devils lead the league in their 6-1 start to the season and look great right now, on a six game win streak, coming off a 4-1 win at home against Wild on Wednesday after dropping their season opener in Carolina. The Sharks are in the second half of a back to back, finally getting their first win of the season last night, beating the Rangers 6-5 in overtime with Maclin Celebrini getting a hat trick and Reavo fighting the Rempire State Building. Electric. I expect this game to be a Devils blowout and I’ll take their puck line for a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Blue Jackets vs. Capitals (7:00)
This should be a pretty fun game in the Metro. The Blue Jackets are 3-3 on the year, coming off two wins in a row, shockingly blowing out the Stars 5-1 on Tuesday night on the road. I think they’re a decent team that should contend for a Wild Card spot this year. The Caps have looked great in their 5-2 start, coming off a nice 4-1 bounce back win against the Kraken on Tuesday. I like Washington to win this one on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under at 6.5, but don’t like it enough to bet on.
Jets vs. Flames (8:00)
Quite the lousy matchup in the West here. The Jets have been very good this season. They’re in the second half of a back to back, getting shut out 3-0 by the Kraken last night, a bit of a surprise, and a loss for me. The Flames are awful, starting the year 1-6-1. They’re on a seven game losing streak, coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the to the Habs on Wednesday. Even in the second half of a back to back, I like Winnipeg to bounce back here at home and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
