Happy Halloween! Last night I crushed the NHL slate, going 9-2 to win 3.68 units, my fourth winning night in a row! Tonight let’s make it five in a row on a staggered three game slate with an early start.
Golden Knights vs. Avalanche (4:00)
Great game to start the day between two teams I think are both Cup contenders out of the West. Both of these teams are off to great starts to the year. The Golden Knights, coming off a 6-3 win in Carolina on Tuesday to bounce back from back to back losses in the state of Florida over the weekend, improving to 6-1-3 on the season. The Avalanche ended a four game losing streak with a huge 8-4 win at home on Tuesday against the Devils. I think this game’s a complete toss up. I’d slightly lean Vegas at home, but didn’t even consider betting. I’d slightly lean the over as well, but not enough to bet it at 6.5 or buy down. I’ll lay off this one entirely.
Capitals vs. Islanders (7:00)
Although neither of these teams have been all that great lately, I still think this is a huge mismatch in the Metro Division. The Capitals are coming off two losses in a row to drop to 6-4 on the year, getting shut out 1-0 in Dallas on Tuesday after an embarrassing 7-1 blowout loss at home to the Sens on Saturday. I think the Islanders are terrible, but their offense has exceeded my expectations. They come into tonight on a three game losing streak off a 6-2 loss in Carolina last night. Washington won the first game between these teams 4-2 on the road earlier this month, and especially with the Isles i the second half of a back to back, I like the Caps to win again here. I’ll take the Capitals in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the over slightly, but not enough to bet it at 6.5.
Ducks vs. Red Wings (10:00)
This should be a pretty fun cross conference game. The Ducks have been pretty good, beating the Panthers 3-2 in a shootout on the road on Tuesday for their third win in their last four games, improving to 5-3-1 on the year. Their defense has been bad but their offense led by their young starts has been solid. The Red Wings have been similar in their style of hockey, on a there game win streak to improve to 8-3 on the year. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 4-3 shootout win in a crazy game in LA last night (insane hit on my over), giving up a 3-1 lead with 1:13 left as Corey Perry scored twice for the Kings to tie it up, hit my over and take it to overtime, but with a little luck of two reviews going Detroit’s way, including one in overtime, the Red Wings got the shootout win. With the Red Wings in the second half of a back to back on the road, I’d slightly lean Anaheim wins this at home, but wouldn’t bet on it whatsoever. I love the over in this game though, with two good offenses and bad defenses, and I’ll take the over for a unit.
Bets
1u Capitals in regulation (-155)
1u Ducks/Red Wings over 6.5 (-110)
Record: 67-52 (-5.98 units)
