Mel is down to his final two women on this season of The Golden Bachelor, and they’ve both been great, Cindy, my favorite, and Peg. I don’t think Mel’s been all that great as a lead, and I feel like both of these women, and the whole cast really, have liked Mel way more than he’s liked any of them. But I have still really enjoyed this season.
Mel heads to Antigua for this final week, with fantasy suites this week with Cindy and Peg. Prior to both of those dates, Jesse really pushes Mel to tell the women how he feels about them.
Peg gets the first date of the week. Their date starts with driving around in a dune buggy sightseeing. Mel drives the thing so slow and leisurely. Then Peg takes over and guns it. Way more fun. Peg opens up and tells Mel about how she’s closed off and protects herself but that she’s really into him, then asks him how he feels about her and Mel barely says anything. She has concerns that Mel might not be emotionally available for her. At dinner, Peg asks Mel again how he feels about her, and he gives her very short answers but finally opens up a little bit.
Cue the emotional music…
Should you choose to forgo your individual rooms, please use this key to stay together, as a couple in the fantasy suite.
Gets me every time!
They both looked very happy the next morning, and Peg says that she got to see more about Mel and connected with him a lot more, answering all her concerns about him not being open and vulnerable.
Cindy’s next, who’s SO into Mel. Their date starts with a boat ride to go swimming with the stingrays. That’s fun. Mel’s super nervous about the stingrays. Cindy’s also concerned that Mel isn’t being open with her. At dinner that night, Mel and Cindy discuss that there still is another person there and that he can’t tell her that they’re going to have a happy ever after because of that. Cindy asks him how regardless of Peg, he sees their relationship. He says that no matter what, the relationship would still have to develop over time. Very noncommittal. She says that him not having questions for him, and not sharing with her what he’s feeling. She pushes on that more, and he just says it’s difficult and it just takes time. Very much feels like he absolutely picked Peg over her. She seems so disappointed, and I can’t blame her there.
How is it this late in the season and he still hasn’t opened up as the lead to any of these women.
Next week, we find out what comes of this in this two hour finale.
