Sabres @ Mammoth: 11/12/25 – Game Reactions/Recap

The Sabres started off hot tonight, getting a 2-0 lead and then completely crumbling in Utah, giving up five unanswered, four in the third period to lose 5-2 to the Mammoth.

The Sabres got on the board first tonight, 5:33 into the game, with Isak Rosen getting an easy tip in, off some great work on the boards and a nice individual effort by Jack Quinn to set him up. Pretty good start for Buffalo to this game, despite Utah out-chancing us 7-3 in that first period.

Buffalo made it a 2-0 game with Rasen finishing off a beautiful play in transition with Jack Quinn and Noah Ostlund as they weaved through the zone entry. Fantastic passing to set it up. Utah got back within one with 9:18 left in the second on a rip from Buffalo native Nick DeSimone from the top of the circle off a rebound in chaos in the Sabres zone. Decent period of hockey. I still thought Utah looked like the better team, but the Sabres have hung in there pretty well throughout this game.

Just 52 seconds into the third period, the former Sabre, JJ Peterka tied up the game on a really nicely placed shot that ripped off the post and in from the left circle. Whole new game. A couple minutes later, Lawson Crouse made it 3-2 Mammoth 3:22 into the third, giving them the lead on a nice goal in front, top shelf where mama hides the cookies. Clayton Keller capped it off with an empty netter to end it 5-2 Utah.

FINAL: Sabres 2, Mammoth 5

Pretty pathetic collapse in the third for the Sabres, but Utah was the better team through this whole game. We got outshot 37-19 and out-chanced 19-10.

Onto Colorado to get absolutely shit kicked by the Avalanche tomorrow night.
