Complete breakeven night for me going 3-3 on the NHL last night, with all three losses being underdogs. Today we have a huge twelve game slate, let’s crush it!
Keeping the write ups brief today.
Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets (1:00)
This should be a pretty fun game between two similar, mid tier teams. I’d lean Detroit wins at home and the over, but don’t like either enough to bet them, so I will stay off this game entirely.
Islanders vs. Blues (3:30)
Not a great game here. The Isles have exceeded my expectations in their start to the season. I like them to win here at home since the Blues are so awful, and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it with how bad St. Louis has been defensively.
Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
This should be a pretty fun Atlantic Division rivalry matchup but both of these teams are struggling quite a bit. I’d slightly lean the Habs win at home, but the Leafs are still the better team, so I’ll stay off the side in this one. I do like the over though, which I’ll take at 6 for half a unit. I’ll also take a player prop parlay for half a unit on Nylander, Tavares, Caufield, and Suzuki to each get a point.
Panthers vs. Oilers (7:00)
With the way that these teams have started this season, this rematch of the last two years’ Stanley Cup Finals isn’t all that great. Florida has seemingly turned it around despite all their injuries while the Oilers are still struggling. I’ll take the Panthers for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it. I like a player prop parlay here too, and I’ll take McDavid, Draisaitl, and Marchand to each get a point for half a unit as well.
Flyers vs. Devils (7:00)
This Metro Division game isn’t great. The Flyers have played better than I thought they would with a solid defense, but their offense has struggled. The Devils are without Jack Hughes, but still a solid team and I like them to win on the road. I’ll take Jersey for half a unit. I like the under as well, which I’ll also take for half a unit.
Penguins vs. Kraken (7:00)
This is a pretty bad cross conference game. I think the Penguins are the slightly better team here and should win at home, but with them in the second half of a back to back coming off a 5-0 shutout loss against the Wild last night, I think the right move is staying off it. I do like the under though, which I’ll take at 6 for half a unit. I’ll also parlay Sid and Geno to each get a point for half a unit in this bounce back spot.
Capitals vs. Lightning (7:00)
This should be a great game, with both of these teams playing pretty well right now after struggling earlier this year. I’d lean the Lightning win this one, but not enough to bet it. I’d also lean the over, but the right play on this game is just laying off it entirely.
Sharks vs. Senators (7:00)
Not the best cross conference matchup, but I’d expect this game should be pretty fun to watch. I’d lean the Sens, who are definitely the more complete team should win here on the road, but I don’t like it enough to bet on. I’d lean the over, but not enough to take that either. I keep picking the wrong games for Celebrini to score, but I’ll go back to it for half a unit.
Predators vs. Avalanche (8:00)
Huge mismatch here, as the Avs are the best team in the NHL, while the Predators are horrible. I’ll take the Avs in regulation on the road for a unit. I’d slightly lean the over, but at 6.5, it isn’t worth betting on. I considered a few player props here, but the prices on MacKinnon, Makar, and Necas are all way too expensive.
Mammoth vs. Rangers (9:00)
Pretty lousy cross conference game here. I’d slightly lean Utah wins at home with the better offense, and I’d slightly lean the under, but I’m not touching this game.
Flames vs. Stars (10:00)
This is another huge mismatch out West. The Flames are one of the worst teams, if not the worst team in the NHL. Dallas is very good and should win this game pretty easily on the road. I’ll take them for a unit at a far cheaper price than it should be. I like the over too since it’s just 5.5, so I’ll take that for half a unit.
Ducks vs. Golden Knights (10:00)
Great game, I’d say the best one on the slate to end the night between the two teams at the top of the Pacific Division. I’d lean Vegas wins this one at home, but not enough to bet it. With the total at 6.5, I’d slightly lean the under, but think this game probably gets around six goals, so I’ll stay off it. I will take two player prop parlays though, with half a unit on Eichel/Marner/Carlsson for half a unit, then I’ll take my juiciest one of the season for .4 units on those three along with Troy Terry and Cutter Gauthier.
