Sabres vs. Hurricanes: 11/23/25 – Game Reactions/Recap

Today the Sabres put together a great team effort in every facet of the game for our second straight win, beating the Hurricanes 4-1 in a matinee at home.

The Sabres scored first tonight, 5:51 into the game, with some nice patience on the power play by Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod, waiting for Alex Tuch to get open right in the slot to put the puck easily in the open net to make it 1-0 Buffalo. Jacob Bryson thought he made it 2-0 a couple minutes later with 12:05 left in the first on a nice shot walking in from the point to the top of the circle, but it was immediately called off on the ice for goaltender interference. Lindy challenged it and it remained no goal, sending Carolina to the power play. The Hurricanes made it 1-1 on the power play with 5:24 left in the first, with some chaos in front of the net from a Jarvis shot attempt out front, pulling UPL out of the net, leaving Shayne Gostisbehere to shot the puck into the empty net to tie it up. Pretty good first period for the Sabres, hanging in there with a much better Canes team. Fun period to watch, with both teams getting multiple power plays, each cashing in on them.

Buffalo took the lead back, 3:55 into the second period with some nice work down low to sustain possession and Ryan McLeod set up Jack Quinn for a nice tip in right in front to make it 2-1. With 1:24 left in the second, Beck Malenstyn on a beautiful individual effort, entered the zone, toe dragged Aho, and then finished nicely to make it 3-1 Buffalo. Beauty.

Great period for the Sabres, getting several good scoring chances, playing hard and putting in a solid physical effort defensively.

At the end of a scoreless third period, the Sabres capped off the win on a Tage Thompson empty netter with 21.1 seconds left to win it 4-1.

FINAL: Sabres 4, Hurricanes 1

Another really good win for the Sabres at home tonight, maybe they got the kick in the ass that they needed by losing to Calgary on Wednesday. I thought in every facet of the game Buffalo played well. We play harder defensively, UPL was awesome in goal in his second straight start and the offense capitalized when we had to. Refreshing to watch. Very nice win.

Let’s Go Buffalo!
