Tonight the Sabres opened the scoring early, and played fantastic hockey, dominating the Jets on the way to a 5-1 win at home.

The Sabres got on the board early on their second shot of the game, with Jason Zucker going to the net and following up a shot from the just activated Josh Norris, and after Comrie lost the puck underneath him, Zucker finished it off, just 2:43 into the game. 18 seconds later Bowen Byram made it 2-0 on a rip in transition with all three Sabres quickly getting past the Jets defense to turn it into a 3 on 1 chance. Great start! With 5:06 left in the first, Josh Norris slid the puck in past Comrie on a beautiful move right next to the net to make it 3-0 Buffalo. Great first period for the Sabres.

With 8:43 to go in the second period, Kyle Connor tipped in a quick shot from the blue line by Morrissey, redirecting it five hole to make it 3-1. Bad defense by the Sabres there to leave Winnipeg’s second best player wide open right in front of the net. Alex tuch answered right back for the Sabres about a minute and a half later, on a super low angle shot from the goal line, following his own rebound and placing the puck perfectly between the goalie (who I’ve never heard of that replaced Comrie after the first intermission, which I didn’t even notice) and the pipe. Great answer there. Another pretty solid period for the Sabres there besides giving up the goal.

Josh Norris got his second goal of the game, flying down the ice on a breakaway and sliding it five hole to make it 5-1 just 40 seconds into the third period. The Sabres shut it down the rest of the game to finish off this really solid, dominant win.

Really great game for the Sabres tonight in every facet of the game, dominating Winnipeg from start to finish. Nice to see how much of a difference Norris made in his return as well, so hopefully he stays healthy and keeps contributing every night.
