Slight losing night for me yesterday on the NHL to end my mini win streak, going 10-11 to lose 0.91 units (with a bit of bad luck). Let’s bounce back on tonight’s kind of lousy four game slate!
Blackhawks vs. Rangers (7:30)
Not the best cross conference matchup here to start the night, but I could see this being a decent game. The Blackhawks are struggling right now. Coming off a 7-1 blowout loss in Anaheim on Sunday they have just two wins in their last ten games to fall to 12-11-6 on the season. The Rangers are coming off two 3-2 overtime losses in a row over the weekend, losing at home to the Golden Knights and the Avalanche. They’re now 14-12-4 on the season with a 5-1-2 record in their last eight games. New York’s been far better on the road, with a 12-4-1 record outside of MSG. Their offense has been garbage, but the defense and goaltending has been elite. I like the Rags win here on the road but I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under here, but not enough to bet it. I’ll also parlay Artemi Panarin and Connor Bedard to each get a point for half a unit.
Flames vs. Red Wings (8:30)
This cross conference matchup isn’t great either, but both of these teams are playing well right now. The Flames have been terrible all year, especially offensively, but their defense has been pretty good. They’ve seemingly figured something out lately, with a 7-2-1 record in their last ten games to improve to 12-15-4 on the season, on a three game win streak coming off a 7-4 win at home against the Sabres on Monday. The Red Wings have been solid, with a 16-11-3 record. They’re on a four game point streak with a 3-0-1 record in that span, coming off a 4-0 shutout win in Vancouver on Monday. Defensively they haven’t been great, but they’ve been decent offensively. I’d lean Detroit wins here on the road, but don’t like it enough to bet it. I’d slightly lean the over, but I’m not touching it. I will parlay Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin to each get a point for half a unit.
Mammoth vs. Panthers (9:00)
Interesting cross conference matchup here. The Mammoth are struggling lately with just five wins in their last 18 games, dropping to 14-14-3 on the season after their hot start. The Panthers are still struggling with injuries, but come into tonight off two wins in a row, beating the Islanders 4-1 at home on Sunday to improve to 14-12-2. I’d slightly lean Florida here, but don’t like it enough to bet on it. The total’s a toss up to me, so I’ll stay off that as well. This play’s a bit of a stretch, but I’ll parlay Clayton Keller, Brad Marchand, and Sam Reinhart to each get a point for half a unit. Two of those guys are under a point a game (Keller and Reinhart), but I still like it.
Kraken vs. Kings (10:00)
Boring Pacific Division matchup to end the night. The Kraken are in a big time slump right now. Coming off a 4-1 loss at home to the Wild on Monday (big triple winner for me), they’re on a six game losing streak to fall to 11-10-6 on the season. The Kings are playing well, with a 14-8-7 record, coming off two wins in a row after a 4-2 win in Utah on Monday. I like LA to win on the road tonight and I’ll take them for a unit. Both of these teams have been good defensively, but have been pretty bad offensively, so I do like the under, which I’ll take for half a unit.
