NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 12/14/25

Crazy night of hockey yesterday, but a disaster for me betting it, as I went 10-13 on the NHL to lose 4.88 units. Today we have a decent six game Sunday slate. Let’s bounce back!

Devils vs. Canucks (12:30)

Lousy matchup to start the day. The Devils have been struggling big time lately and got even more injuries now to go along with Jack Hughes still being out of the lineup. They’re in the second half of a back to back today, coming off a 4-1 win at home against the Ducks yesterday afternoon to improve to 18-13-1 with just their second win in their last eight games. The Canucks have been awful all year, and their team got significantly worse on Friday when they traded Quinn Hughes to the Wild, which I do think was a good move for their future since he obviously was leaving Vancouver anyway. Coming off a 3-2 loss at home to the Sabres on Thursday night, they have just one win in their last seven games, falling to a league worst 11-17-3. Even in the second half of a back to back, I’d lean the Devils win here, but I don’t like it enough to bet on. Both of these offenses have struggled and I’d lean the under, but with how bad the Canucks have been defensively, and losing their best defenseman, I’ll just stay off this game entirely.

Penguins vs. Mammoth (3:00)

Not the best matchup, but this should be a pretty fun game. The Penguins are in the second half of a back to back tonight coming off an insane collapse yesterday. They blew a 5-1 lead with 7:33 left, allowing five unanswered goals to lose 6-5 to the Sharks in overtime at home. Pittsburgh’s now on a four game losing streak, falling to 14-8-8 on the season. The Mammoth ended a three game losing streak on Friday, with a solid 5-3 win at home against the Kraken, improving to 15-15-3 on the season. I think the side and the total on this game are pretty much toss ups, so I’ll stay off both. I do like a player prop here though and will parlay Clayton Keller and Sidney Crosby to each get a point for half a unit.

Hurricanes vs. Flyers (5:00)

These teams are in the second half of a back to back home and home tonight. Last night they played for the second time this season, with the same result as the first game they played, with the Hurricanes winning 4-3 and needing more than regulation to get it done, winning it in a shootout on the road after winning 4-3 in OT at home in the first week of the season. Carolina’s the way better team here, and I’d expect them to win again at home tonight, but at -250, I think that’s too expensive to bet on, and with both previous games going to overtime, I do like the matchup enough to buy it down to regulation only. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it. I’ll stay off this game completely.

Wild vs. Bruins (6:00)

This should be a fun game tonight as Quinn Hughes makes his debut for the Wild after Friday’s blockbuster trade, with a great matchup between two teams that are both playing well right now. Minnesota’s one of the best teams in the league and they’re on a three game winning streak, improving to 18-9-5 on the season. They’re in the second half of a back to back, beating the Sens yesterday at home 3-2 on Joel Eriksson Ek’s game winner with 24 seconds left in regulation (with Kirill Kaprivoz just barely missing the empty net which would’ve been a huge swing for me on his player prop parlay with Matt Boldy). The Bruins are playing way better than I anticipated they would this year, on a four game win streak coming off a 6-3 win in Winnipeg on Thursday night to improve to 19-13 on the year. The Wild should win here at home, even in the second half of a back to back, and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over slightly, but definitely not enough to bet on them. I like a handful of player props here too. I’ll take Morgan Geekie to get a point for half a unit, and I’ll parlay Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, David Pastrnak, and Quinn Hughes in his Wild debut to each get a point for half a unit.

Canadiens vs. Oilers (7:00)

Pretty fun cross conference matchup here with both of these teams in the second half of back to backs. The Habs are struggling a bit lately, with just one win in their last four games, coming off a 5-4 overtime loss on the road to the Rangers yesterday to fall to 16-11-4 on the season. The Oilers are playing great right now after their terrible start to the season. Coming off a 6-3 win in Toronto last night, they’re on a five game point streak with a 6-2-1 record in their last nine games to improve to 15-11-6 on the season. The first game between these teams was electric with Edmonton winning 6-5 at home back in October. They should win again here, but I don’t like it enough to bet on with them on the road and both teams in the second half of back to backs. Both of these teams have been great offensively, but have struggled on the back end, which makes me like the over a lot. I’ll take it for a unit. I’ll also parlay Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Nick Suzuki, and Cole Caufield to each get a point for half a unit. I’ll also individually take Connor McDavid to get over 1.5 points for half a unit.

Kraken vs. Sabres (8:00)

Boring game to end the night between two bad teams. The Kraken were playing well to start the year, but they’ve now come crashing down. Coming off a 5-3 loss in Utah on Friday night, they’ve won just one of their last eight games (with that win coming in OT against the Kings in crazy fashion on Wednesday), falling to 12-11-6 on the season. Their offense has been putrid, but their defense has been pretty good for most of the season. My Sabres have sucked on both ends of the ice too, and are still in last place in the Eastern Conference with a 13-14-4 record, but come into tonight off two wins in a row, beating the Canucks 3-2 on the road on Thursday in a surprisingly good game after beating the Oilers 4-3 in overtime after blowing a 3-0 third period lead on Tuesday.  I’d lean Seattle wins here at home with the better defense and I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet either, so I’ll stay off this game completely. Let’s see if the Sabres can find a way to make it three in a row. Let’s Go Buffalo!
