NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 12/17/25

Had my best day of the NHL season so far last night, going 13-3 to win 7.71 units capped off by the Avs’ fantastic comeback. Let’s make it three winning nights in a row on tonight’s nice five game slate!

Panthers vs. Kings (7:00)

Decent cross conference matchup to start the night off. The Panthers are on a pretty hot run right now with five wins in their last six games, improving to 17-13-2 on the season, coming off a big 5-2 win on the road in the Battle of Florida on Monday night. The Kings are 14-9-9 and they’re struggling right now, on a three game losing streak coming off a 4-1 loss in Dallas on Monday (nice double winner in that one for me, even though I missed my player prop parlay by a leg). They’ve won just four of their last 13 games, struggling offensively, but playing well defensively. Florida won the first game between these teams 5-2 on the road last month. I’d lean they win again here tonight at home, but don’t love it enough to bet on -148. I’d slightly lean the under as well, but not enough to bet it either at 5.5. I do like one play on this game though and I’ll take take Brad Marchand to get a point for half a unit.

Red Wings vs. Mammoth (7:30)

Kind of boring, but still pretty solid matchup for this cross conference game. The Red Wings are playing quite well right now, leading the Atlantic Division with a 19-12-3 record. They’re in the second half of a back to back coming off a 3-2 win at home against the Islanders last night and have five wins in their last six games. The Mammoth are in the second half of a back to back as well, coming off a 4-1 loss in Boston last night. They’re struggling a bit right now, with just seven wins in their last 22 games. I’d slightly lean the Red Wings win at home and the under, but with both teams in the second half of back to backs, I’m not touching either. I thought about making this bigger with Dylan Larkin and Nick Schmaltz, but I’ll just keep it simple and parlay Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond to each get a point for half a unit.

Blues vs. Jets (8:00)

Pretty big mismatch here, but a nice price on it. The Blues have been terrible. Coming off a 5-2 loss at home to the Predators on Monday they’re just 12-15-7 on the season, struggling immensely on both ends of the ice. The Jets have had their problems lately as well. Coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at home to the Senators on Monday they have just three wins in their last 13 games, falling to 15-15-2 on the year. A pretty big part of that stretch though was without Connor Hellebuyck, so I’m not putting a ton of stock into that. With Hellebuyck back between the pipes, I really like Winnipeg to win here tonight on the road and I’ll take them for a unit. I’d lean the over, especially at 5.5, but not quite enough to bet it with how putrid the Blues offense is. I’ll also parlay Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele to each get a point for a unit.

Predators vs. Hurricanes (8:00)

The Preds are playing much better lately, but this is still a huge mismatch. Coming off a 5-2 win in St. Louis on Monday, Nashville’s won seven of their last ten games to improve to 13-15-4 on the season. They still suck though. The Hurricanes have been very good this year, with a 21-9-2 record, coming into tonight on a four game win streak, with three straight shootout wins after another one, 3-2 at home against the Flyers on Sunday. Carolina won the first game between these teams easily, 6-3 a couple weeks ago. I fully expect them to get another easy win tonight. I’ll lay the -180 on the Canes here for a unit. I’d slightly lean the over at 5.5, but not enough to bet it. I considered a few player props in this game, but don’t think any of them are actually worth betting, so I’ll just stick with the moneyline.

Golden Knights vs. Devils (10:00)

Not a great cross conference matchup to end the night. The Golden Knights have been very good, improving to 16-6-9 on the season, coming off a 3-2 win in Columbus on Saturday night. They’re on a seven game point streak with the only loss in that span in a shootout on the road on Long Island. The Devils have really struggled without Jack Hughes, along with more injuries, and they have just two wins in their last nine games, coming off a 2-1 loss at home to the Canucks on Sunday. On the road earlier this month, Vegas shut out the Devils 3-0 in Jersey. I like the Knights to win again here and I’ll take them for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but didn’t even consider betting it. Jack Eichel’s out of the lineup for Vegas with an illness tonight. If he was playing, I’d parlay him with Mark Stone to each get a point. I considered parlaying Marner with Stone, but I think the play I like better is Stone to have over 1.5 points, which I’ll take for a half unit shot at a nice price of +180.

Bets

.5u Brad Marchand over 0.5 point (-154)

.5u parlay: Alex DeBrincat/Lucas Raymond 1+ point each (-103)

1u Jets ML (-155)

1u parlay: Kyle Connor/Mark Scheifele 1+ point each (-161)

1u Hurricanes ML (-180)

1u Golden Knights ML (-166)

.5u Mark Stone over 1.5 points (+180)

Record: 269-279-1 (-32.03 units)
