Sabres @ Senators: 12/23/25 – Game Reactions/Recap

The Sabres extended their win streak tonight to seven in a row, grinding out a 3-2 overtime win in Ottawa to head into the Christmas break!

The Sabres got on the board first with 4:38 remaining in the first period, sneaking behind the Sens defense to tip the puck in off a very nice setup from Jordan Greenway. Beautiful play to put Buffalo up 1-0. The Senators tied it up a few minutes, later, with Ridley Greig flying down the ice on a turnover and beating Alex Lyon on a backhander in front with 2:47 left in the first period. Pretty solid period of hockey, lot of action on both ends of the ice.

The Sabres took the lead 6:11 into the second period, with Noah Ostlund deflecting in a shot from Bowen Byram as he was screening Ullmark. Tim Stutzle tied up the game with 10:33 left in the second on the power play, with the entire Sabres defense going to the wall with the puck and leaving Stutzle wide open all alone in the slot for an easy goal. Still a very evenly played hockey game.

With a huge penalty kill late for Buffalo, the third period stayed scoreless, making it a seven game point streak for the Sabres with this game heading to overrrrrtimmeeeee.

Bowen Byram ended the game in overtime for our seventh straight win on a beauty of a shot from the circle in transition for the Sabres to win it!

FINAL: Sabres 3, Senators 2 (OT)

Gutsy, solid win for our seventh win in row! 4-0 in the Jarmo era. Ottawa had way more scoring chances than we did tonight, out-chancing us 24-13 even though they only outshot us 26-25, but Lyon stayed hot in goal to keep Buffalo in it, and I thought the Sabres played good enough and were solid defensively to keep them in this game.

Big win!

Let’s Go Buffalo!
