Tonight the Sabres gave up a goal in the first 15 seconds, but were perfect after that for a really impressive 4-1 win on the road against a great Stars team to extend this streak to a franchise-tying record TEN in a row!
The Stars scored just 15 seconds into the game, with Mavrik Bourque batting a bouncing puck out of the air on a failed clearing attempt in front of the net by Rasmus Dahlin. Pretty bad goal defensively to give up to start a game against an elite team. After giving up that early goal, the Sabres looked better, getting some nice chances sustaining the puck in the Dallas zone. I thought that was actually a really good first period after giving up that first goal.
The Sabres tied it up at 1, 7:44 into the second period with some nice work down low by Tage Thompson to setup Josh Doan for a nice one timer. Bo Byram gave the Sabres their first lead of the game with 2:55 remaining in the second on a rip top shelf blocker side past DeSmith in transition. Another very good period for the Sabres on both ends of the ice.
Tage Thompson added to the Sabres lead, making it 3-1 with 10:39 to go in regulation with some great work by the entire team to keep the puck in the zone and move the puck. TNT added to the lead again just a couple minutes later, with a rip from the slot in transition to make it 4-1 BUFFALO with 8:24 left in the game. Beautiful third period for the Sabres to get the win!
TEN IN A ROW!!!
FINAL: Sabres 4, Stars 1
What a way to close out 2025!! The Sabres gave up that goal in the first 15 seconds of the game, but there was no quit after that and we rolled through the rest of that game! Fantastic win against an elite team to tie the Buffalo franchise record, making it ten wins in a row in impressive fashion. We shut out the Stars for the final 59:45 of this game, playing fantastic on both ends of the ice, out shooting Dallas 31-29 and out-chancing them 21-16. We end 2025 in a Wild Card spot, the first time I remember that happening in forever, and still undefeated in the Jarmo era. What a run this has been. Let’s keep it rolling on Saturday and break that franchise record against the Blue Jackets!
Let’s Go Buffalo!!!
