NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/29/26

The Avs let me down big time on last night’s small slate, so I went 4-6 to lose 3.33 units. Tonight we have one of the biggest NHL slates of the year, with 15 games, all but two teams in action. Let’s crush this huge card!

Keeping all these short. There’s way too many games today for me to do a full long ass paragraph on every game (besides my beloved Sabres of course). If you need more stats, recent games, etc. go to ESPN or NHL.com. I’m just giving what I expect out of each game and my bets, which is probably what I should do every day, but hey, I enjoy writing.

Sabres vs. Kings (7:00)

Not the best cross conference game to get the day started. The Sabres are the hottest team in hockey, in a three way tie with the Habs and Bruins for the third place spot in the Atlantic Division and the two Wild Card spots in the East. Coming off a big 7-4 win in Toronto on Tuesday night, we’re on a four game win streak with a franchise best 19-3-1 record in our last 23 games to improve to 30-17-5 on the season. We’re a wagon. The Kings aren’t having a great season, with a 22-16-13 record, but they’re on a three game win streak, coming off a bit of a surprising 3-1 win in Detroit on Tuesday. Although the LA defense has been good this year, their offense has been awful. I like my Sabres to win here at home tonight and I’ll take them for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it. I’ll mix it up slightly and parlay Tage Thompson with David Pastrnak in Bruins/Flyers to each get a point for half a unit.

Bruins vs. Flyers (7:00)

Not the best matchup here in the Eastern Conference. Especially with the Flyers in the second half of a back to back, I like the Bruins to win here at home and I’ll take them for a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll take for half a unit, and I’ll take David Pastrnak to get over 1.5 points for half a unit, along with my parlay with Tage on him to get a point.

Canadiens vs. Avalanche (7:00)

This should be a really fun cross conference game tonight. The Avs are in a big time slump but I still can’t stay off betting them. Even in the second half of a back to back tonight after a 5-2 loss in Ottawa last night, I like Colorado to bounce back and I’ll take them for half a unit. More so I love the over in this game, which I’ll take for 1.5 units. I’ll also parlay Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Nathan MacKinnon, Martin Necas, and Cale Makar to each get a point for half a unit, at lower odds than a five leg parlay should be. I considered taking MacKinnon, Necas, and Suzuki to get over 1.5 points all individually, but probably best to stay off it.

Lightning vs. Jets (7:00)

Huge mismatch here. The Lightning should win this one pretty easily at home and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it. I’ll also parlay Nikita Kucherov, Jake Guentzel, Brandon Hagel, Mark Scheifele, and Kyle Connor to each get a point for half a unit, and I’ll take Kucherov to get over 1.5 points for half a unit.

Devils vs. Predators (7:00)

Pretty boring cross conference matchup. This game’s pretty close to a toss up to me. I’d slightly lean the Preds win on the road, but definitely not enough to bet them. With the total at 5.5, I’d slightly lean the over with the way both teams have been trending recently, but not enough to bet that either, since both teams are struggling to score. I do like Ryan O’Reilly to get a point though, which I’ll parlay for half a unit with Mika Zibanejad in the Rangers game against the Isles.

Rangers vs. Islanders (7:00)

The last battle of New York of the season here tonight in the second half of a back to back home and home as the Rangers look to avoid the season sweep. They just played last night on Long Island with the Isles winning 5-2 at home after 5-0 and 2-0 shutout wins earlier this season. I like the Isles to win again here across the bridge in MSG, where the Rags have been horrendous this season, and I’ll take them for half a unit to complete the season sweep to go along with my parlay on Mika Zibanejad to get a point with Ryan O’Reilly in Devils/Preds.

Penguins vs. Blackhawks (7:00)

Pretty big cross conference mismatch here. The Penguins are playing excellent hockey right now where the Blackhawks are struggling. I’ll take Pittsburgh for a unit on the moneyline, along with half a unit on the puck line. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet it at 6.5. I’ll also parlay Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to each get a point for a unit, and I’ll take Sid to get over 1.5 points for half a unit.

Hurricanes vs. Mammoth (7:00)

Pretty solid cross conference game here between two teams both playing great hockey on both ends of the ice. I give Carolina a bit of an edge here at home and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, expecting this to be a grind of a game, but not enough to bet it at 5.5. I’ll also parlay Seth Jarvis, Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and Clayton Keller to each get a point for half a unit.

Red Wings vs. Capitals (7:30)

The Capitals are struggling big time lately, and with that I like Detroit to bounce back here from Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to the Kings at home. I’ll take the Red Wings for a unit. I’d lean the under slightly, but definitely not enough to bet it. I’ll also parlay Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin, and Alex DeBrincat to each get a point for half a unit.

Blues vs. Panthers (8:00)

The Panthers are desperate for wins, six points out of a playoff spot in the East as they try to three-peat. Although they’re coming off a 4-3 loss at home to the Mammoth on Tuesday, they’re playing well right now as they keep getting healthier. The Blues are one of the worst teams in the league, and I like Florida to get a win here on the road. I’ll take the Panthers for a unit. The total’s a complete toss up to me, so I’ll stay off it. I’ll also parlay Sam Reinhart, Brad Marchand, and Matthew Tkachuk (back in his hometown) to each get a point for half a unit.

Wild vs. Flames (8:00)

Huge mismatch in the West. I love Minnesota here at home and I’ll take the Wild for a unit. I’d lean the over at 5.5, with two solid defenses and a struggling offense for Calgary, but not enough to bet it at 5.5. I’ll also parlay Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, Mats Zuccarello, and Quinn Hughes to each get a point for half a unit, and I’ll take Kirill the Thrill to get over 1.5 points for half a unit.

Oilers vs. Sharks (9:00)

This should be a pretty fun game between these two playoff teams in the Pacific Division. I’d lean the Oilers win here at home, but not enough to bet them at the -185 price. I’d probably play it up to -150, but that’s too expensive. I do like the over though, and I’ll take it for a unit. I love a few player props here. For a unit I’ll parlay Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Macklin Celebrini to each get a point, then I’ll take all three of those guys to get over 1.5 points, with a unit on Connor and a half unit on the other two guys each individually and for half a unit all parlayed together. Let’s get some goals.

Canucks vs. Ducks (10:00)

Pretty terrible matchup here in the Pacific, but that could be said on every game the Canucks play since they’re the worst team in the league. I like the Ducks to win here on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll also take for half a unit.

Golden Knights vs. Stars (10:00)

Fantastic Western Conference matchup here. Both of these teams are very good, and the side on it is pretty much a toss up to me. I’d give Vegas a slight edge at home in the fortress, but not enough to bet them. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet that either. I do like some player props though, and I’ll parlay Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson, and Wyatt Johnston to each get a point for half a unit.

Kraken vs. Maple Leafs (10:00)

Kind of a lousy, yet quite the interesting cross conference game to end the night since these teams play complete opposite styles of hockey. Seattle’s been good defensively, while the Leafs can’t keep the puck out of their own net. I’d lean Toronto gets out of their slump and ends their five game losing streak on the road here, but not enough to bet them. I’d also lean the over, but not enough to bet it at 6.5, since I feel like we probably end up getting exactly six goals here. I thought about taking Auston Matthews to get over 1.5 points, but that’s too hit or miss for me to bet, so I’ll lay off this game completely.
