I got killed on the NHL last night on the big slate, getting capped off with MacKinnon and Makar getting their assists taken off the board and Nate getting kicked out of the game to go 8-17, losing 8.26 units. Tonight we have just two decent games, let’s bounce back!
Senators vs. Canadiens (7:30)
Great game here in the Atlantic to start off the night. The Senators have been hot lately, coming into tonight on a three game win streak after shutting out the Canucks 2-0 on the road on Monday night with a big empty netter by Brady Tkachuk from Tim Stutzle to cash my parlay on them. Going 9-1-2 in their last twelve games, they’ve improved to 32-22-9 record on the year, and they’re now just five points back from the Bruins for the second Wild Card spot in the East. Although their offense has been good all year, their goaltending has been a bit of a struggle this year. The Habs are two point back from Tampa and a point ahead of the Red Wings in third place in the division, with a 35-18-10 record. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 3-1 win at home against the Leafs last night. Montreal’s been very good offensively this season, but on the back end they’ve had their issues. The Habs are 2-1 this year against the Sens, winning 4-3 in overtime at home in November, losing 5-2 at home in December, then winning 6-5 on the road in OT once again in January. I’d slightly lean Ottawa wins here at home tonight to tie up the season series since the Canadiens are in the second half of a back to back on the road, but the price at -192 is way too expensive, almost giving some value to the Habs. I love the over though, which I’ll take for 1.5 units. I’ll also parlay Nick Suzuki, Brady Tkachuk, and Tim Stutzle to each get a point for a unit. I thought about adding Cole Caufield in that parlay, but he’s dealing with an illness right now and even though he’s projected to play, he’s likely going to be limited in minutes tonight.
Flyers vs. Capitals (7:30)
This Metro Division matchup isn’t great with both of these teams more than likely to miss the playoffs. It should be a decent enough game though. The Flyers are coming off a 6-2 loss at home to the Rangers on Monday, but have won four of their last six games after a really bad slump that knocked them out of a playoff spot. They’re now 29-23-11 this year, struggling on both ends of the ice. The Capitals ended a three game losing streak on Monday night with a 7-3 win at home against the Flames, their seventh win in their last eleven games to improve to 32-26-7 on the season. Statistically they’ve played well on both ends of the ice. These teams split their first two games, with Philly winning 4-2 at home at the begging of February and the Caps answering back with a 3-1 win at home a couple weeks ago. I like Washington to win here on the road, and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under slightly, but not enough to bet it at 5.5.
Bets
1.5u Senators/Canadiens over 6.5 (-115)
1u parlay: Nick Suzuki/Brady Tkachuk/Tim Stutzle 1+ point each (+186)
.5u Capitals ML (-135)
Record: 750-803-2 (-47.55 units)
