Sabres @ Sharks: 3/19/26 – Game Reactions/Recap

Tonight got off to a slow start but the Sabres rolled in the second period to beat the Sharks 5-0 as Alex Lyon picked up the second shutout in a row for Buffalo on this West Coast road trip.

Slow, scoreless first period without much action for either team as we head to the first intermission.

The Sabres finally opened the scoring 9:05 into the second period, with Josh Doan missing the net on a shot, it going off the back boards to a chasing Ostlund, who fired it into the open net to put Buffalo up 1-0. Beck Malenstyle scored again just 36 second later to make it 2-0 on a quick zone entry and simple shot. Not long after, Rasmus Dahlin went to the net on a solid rush and after a fantastic zone entry and backhand pass by Jason Zucker protecting the puck, put it in the back of the net to make it 3-0 with 9:12 left in the second. Great run for the period for the Sabres and they played far better than the first, despite only having eight shots in the game after 40 minutes.

Tage Thompson added to the lead just 40 seconds into the third period with a quick rip as he flew into the zone. Sam Carrick made it an even bigger blowout with three minutes left in the game, with a shot from the point by Logan Stanley going off a Sharks defenseman’s stick and off Carrick’s skate into the back of the net.

FINAL: Sabres 5, Sharks 0

Slow start but a great win for the Sabres with our second shutout in a row. Lyon was great, saving all 23 shots he saw tonight for his third shutout of the season. We got outshot 23-16, but out chanced the Sharks 20-14 with that great second period, scoring three goals in the span of less than two minutes. Another big win out West on this road trip, and we’re back to tied for first in the Eastern Conference.

Keep on rolling boys! Let’s Go Buffalo!
