Last night on the big slate with my smaller card, I went 8-6 on the NHL, losing just 0.36 units. Let’s bounce back on tonight’s quick two game slate before a ton of games again tomorrow!
Sabres vs. Bruins (7:30)
Great game here in the Atlantic Division for a preview of a potential first round matchup in the playoffs. My Sabres are one of the best teams in the NHL, with a two point lead over the Lightning for first place in the Atlantic and a point behind the Canes for first in the East. We’re coming off a 6-5 loss to the Ducks to end our road trip and four game win streak where we came back from a 4-2 third period deficit and actually got a 5-4 lead before blowing it and losing in overtime. Buffalo’s now 44-20-7 on the season and we have just two losses in our last 14 games. This team’s a complete wagon. The Bruins are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 4-2 loss at home to the Leafs last night (big loser for me) after two wins in a row. They’re in the first Wild Card in the East, two points back from Montreal for the third spot in the Atlantic and a point ahead of the Sens. The Sabres are 1-1-1 this season against Boston, losing 3-1 on the road in the first week of the season, losing 4-3 in overtime on the road late in October, and then answered with a big 4-1 win at home in December. I like Buffalo to tie up the season series here at home and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it. I’ll also parlay Tage Thompson and David Pastrnak to each get a point for half a unit.
Maple Leafs vs. Rangers (7:30)
Awful matchup here between the worst teams in each Eastern Conference division. The Maple Leafs are horrendous, at the bottom of the Atlantic like the Titanic with a 30-29-13 record, playing decent enough offensively but pathetic on the back end. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 4-2 win in Boston that ended a three game losing streak for them. The Rangers are even worse, the worst team in the East with a 28-34-9 record, although they do have a winning record on the road where they’re 19-16-2. Coming off a 2-1 loss at home to the Senators on Monday in the only game that night, where they generated just ten shots on goal and they’re on a five game losing streak. These teams split their first two games this year, with the Leafs winning 2-1 in overtime at home in October and the Rags answering back with a rare win at MSG earlier this month, winning 6-2 at home. This game’s a complete toss up to me and I’m not touching the side. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet that either. I won’t stay off it completely though, and I’ll parlay William Nylander and Mika Zibanejad to each get a point for half a unit.
Bets

.5u parlay: William Nylander/Mika Zibanejad 1+ point each (-115)
