Sabres @ Senators: 4/2/26 – Game Reactions/Recap

Tonight with a chance to end the 15 year drought and get in the playoffs, the Sabres played a very uninspiring game on the road in Ottawa, especially in the third period, losing 4-1.

Biggest game in the last 15 LONG years as the Sabres can clinch their spot in the playoffs with a win tonight in Ottawa. Queue Better Days by The Goo Goo Dolls, cause tonight’s the night the world begins again. Let’s Go Buffalo!

Other than Logan Stanley fighting Brady Tkachuk, not the most high event period with very low shots and shot attempts for both teams, tied 0-0 after 20 minutes. We looked decent though, getting a few power play opportunities and playing pretty well on the back end.

The Sabres got on the board with 11:11 left in the second period (that wish you make better be on us to make the playoffs) with Mattias Samuelsson firing it in from the point. Ottawa tied it up with 4:42 to go in the second with former Sabre Dylan Cozens tipping it in as Brady Tkachuk threw it on goal on a quick play after a giveaway at the Sabres blue line. Pretty evenly played period as the scoresheet shows. Let’s win this fucking game.

The Sens took the lead with a shot getting tipped in by Lars Eller in front, 5:55 into the third. Ridly Greig scored on the empty net for Ottawa with 2:12 to go to end the game, then the Pinto Parlay added another one with 1:18 to go. Game over. Getting into the playoffs is gonna need to wait another two days at a minimum.

FINAL: Sabres 1, Senators 4

Very uninspiring game. We looked so flat throughout, especially in the third period where we barely generated anything, as we got out chanced 18-11. We looked like shit. Guess the drought continues for at least another two nights.
