I’m having the latest Mortalis BA, a new one, There Is No Dana, on today’s Brew Review. The base of this 13% imperial stout was aged 24 months in Buzzard Roost barrels. The first assembly rested for over two years in bourbon barrels and the second for nearly a year in freshly-emptied Port barrels and was then blended together. This was a really fun one! I was excited to try out Weldwerk’s Coconut PVW23 Medianoche on today’s Brew Review, as this imperial stout was aged 41 months in one of the rarest barrels there is, a first-use 23 year Pappy Van Winkle Reserve Bourbon barrel. I’m having my first stout from Side Project on today’s Brew Review, Double Barrel Derivation. This 16% double barrel aged imperial stout from 2023 was aged in Willett 5 year & 8 year Family Estate Bourbon barrels then finished in Willett 8 year Wheated Bourbon barrels with Tanzanian Vanilla Beans and finished on additional Tanzanian Vanilla Beans at packaging.
